Well, you certainly need to be careful. As long as you take it slowly, have something secure to hold the cpu and not bend the pin, and keep the razor blade at the right angle, you should be fine. I've done it so many times I can't even begin to count them.
Which type of CPU? I've heard they are soldered down on E/Q6600's and above.
