I have change ACT from moderate to lighter for better stability and if ASUS would ever give us some extra ODT bios settings we could use lower volts (cooler system) or i could run my 8gb gskills with having stability problems as i now have...

    @greg.m

Be careful with high FSB. If you want to use FSB 480MHz as your 24/7 stable you should try to find out what value you should use as MCH Read ODT because I think it isn't going to be always stable with 8T.

What happens when you try to use lower (Auto in BIOS) CPU Voltage at FSB 450MHz?

Ill prove both 2 - to adjust odt value and boot with cpuvolt set to auto

    Hi Greg,
I know it is OT but I hope you don't mind if I ask you if your HD 5970 doesn't like the ATI-drivers since the 10.11 version like my HD 5970 does ?

You are going to need 1.70+ Volt at FSB 500MHz to have it running with BIOS default MCH Read ODT 8T. You're going to have to keep the NB very cool and you're going to have to keep to room temperature very low. But that shouldn't be a problem if you take your system outdoor this time of the year.

Or you can try to tweak the MCH Read ODT with BAR_Edit to find better stability and lower volts.

If you could boot with lower tRD with a BIOS release before BIOS 0902, but couldn't run it stable, than you should give it a try.
Well, i think that following values might prevent PL=6
    DRAM Static Read Control [Enabled]
    Ai Clock Twister [Moderate]
but they give better Bandwidth from Disable/Light
Have not tested that yet, but i was looking at greg.m settings and compared to them

Edit: read some earlier posts and i saw that PL6 is possible for strap 400 and lower fsb
So, in my 9x450 i can't put in there PL6

    Though according to this http://www.anandtech.com/show/2427/8
    i can (6/5 divider)

That is true but I think that X at FSB 450MHz is going to be more than 2.0 and that is the probably the reason why it doesn't work with a tRD of 6.

    Edit:

X increases with higher FSB so X at FSB 450MHz would be 2.25 and than it isn't possible.

You can try it yourself. Lower the FSB to 400MHz and keep the 6/5 and than you are going to see that a tRD 6 is possible because X is than 2.

After a clean install and with the latest ccc drivers everything seems good. But i hope that you have a good cooler (water or not) for your overclocked card...

I personally believe this is a problem with a lot of the 775 ASUS boards.
Difficult (or perhaps impossible to prove), but I swear some settings which are [AUTO] do not remain consistent after a COLD boot.

I.e. you input settings, stability test, fail, reboot, change settings, stability test, fail, reboot, change settings some more, stability test... and then everything checks out fine.
    20x Linx
    Hiper Pi
    3dmark Vantage Loop.
    3dmark 06 loop.

And then play a game for a bit, etc. Turn off PC at the end of the day.

Boot the next day, instant BSOD System Service exception or Stop Error.

POWER OFF PC (i.e NOT reboot), then power on and things are fine.
However if you reboot (reset or a quick power off and on) BSODs continue

I have had this happen on two ASUS boards, P5E3 and Rampage Extreme. It appears you are having a similar issue too.

Sadly nobody can prove this as it is so difficult to pin down.

    Hi Greg,
I know it is ot but I am using the Accelero Xtreme VGA-cooler. Even Metro 2033 or CoD4 (MW) doesn't really heat up the card. The gpus won't jump over 55° C. The vram is cooled as well.
I am happy with the card and glad that I followed your recommendation.

    Hi Greg,
if you are really thinking about a new board I would recommend a Gigabyte. I am playing with my UD-7 for a year now and I love it

    Maximus Formula BIOS 1403

Hi. I have a little problem with USB ports.

When i plug my external Hard Drive it only light up blue led, but if i plug the same Ext-HD on my EeePC 1005HA it starts spinning, and get recognised ican access with no problem.

I think there is something messy on USB ports.

I try on BIOS to change every settings related with USB but with no success

How can i fix it ?

Are you using the Front USB Ports Counter CS?
I have the same problem with my Rampage Extreme and P5E3 Motherboards. ASUS Support blame "attenuation" and it is unfixable.
However the rear ports built into the board work fine.

None of the ports work? That is weird...
Have you set BIOS EHCI Hand Off to Disabled? (It is within the USB section).
Are your ports running at [Hi Speed]?
    Legacy USB = [AUTO]?
    Those settings should help.

Have you set BIOS EHCI Hand Off to Disabled? (It is within the USB section).
Are your ports running at [Hi Speed]?
    Legacy USB = [AUTO]?
    Those settings should help.

[Hi Speed] is faster than FULL SPEED. (seems strange, but that is the terminology used)

Have you tried setting the EHCI Hand off to disabled?

One more thing, how many USB devices do you currently have plugged in?

It could be you need to unplug, one or two?

Hmm, which port is it in?
Top rear near the PS2 Keyboard port?
Are you using the latest firmware for your mouse (if there is one?)
