Anyone considered crossflashing the Deluxe to the Extreme? Appears the hardware is the exact same. Only difference I see is the extra PCIe slot in the Extreme, and it has a slightly different Marvell SATA controller.

Ok thanks.
What are the idling temps for you at 1.6GHz and 4.5GHz?
BTW, how much time does the chip stay at full speed when it's not stressed anymore?
Is there no stability issue with constant changes in freq and voltage like this?
Does the chip goes back to lower voltage at 1.6GHz?

Guessing some hundred ms before freq. drops.
Havent had stability issues with 5ghz oc and idle at 1,6mhz (manual volt setting).
Chip doesnt drop volt unless you use offset mode for voltage.

Just 2-3 degrees different, and all my case-fans spins at ~60% that can add to it, but temp-difference is not a big deal. I'm more concern to know about the real different in power-usage, and mentioned temp because it indicates power-usage, but the temp in not a big deal by itself.
Cores are very responsive, they jump up and down real-time. I'm using manual vCore, with LLC=Ultra, and the it's 1.288v/1.272v (Idle/Load). No stability issue at all.
If you want low voltage at idle, then you have to use oftest mode, but I personally haven't used it, and don't know much about it.

I made a wrong buy and ended up with a I7-2600 instead of the I7-2600K. This CPU seems to be locked at 42 multiplier, is there anyway to get around this yet?
Thank you guys, that's interesting.
I'm not into calibrated vdroop for idling, "normal" vcore all the time is fine for me.
However, wouldn't suitable vcore for full freq be a little too much for 1.6GHz?
I never thought much about if it would impact anything or not if voltage is high at low freq.

@poke, i just hope whatever i throw at it doesn't decide that it needs to add more vcore during load. just wondering, what's to stop it from giving 1.5+hopefully, whatever i do, doesn't decide it needs that much juice :P

You should keep the DRAM Voltage: 1.50v for 24/7 to stay on safe side. That's what Intel recommends. Or at least keep it under 1.55v.
Your RAM-performance is probably an overkill anyways, and it's better to go down on RAM speed/voltage to keep the CPU/IMC on the safe side.
At least until we know more about the long term effect of high vDIMM.
And these:
Vccsa: Auto
Vccio: Auto
PLL Voltage: Auto
PCH Voltage: Auto
I type inn my own values manually, mostly default values, because some of them can change sometimes, maybe a bit too much, on Auto. But that's not a big deal anyways.

got the same McLaren F1, they work fine at 1.6-1.625, but not at 1.5... at least not at 1600mhz... don't see an issue with even running 1.7Vdimm... we have seen similar warnings with I7... and not many 1.5 kits around...
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved
Remark : They call me Pro AsusSaaya yupp, I agree
1.7v is too much, way too much. Your CPU/IMC may survive for a long time, but we don't know it. It may also die on you in a couple of months, or somehow degrade. Who knows?
If RAM was a bottleneck I could understand why you would want to take a risk, but SB has introduces such a huge RAM-improvement, that even a 1333MHz would be good enough for 24/7 usage, and all desktop applications.
So why should we push it to potentially dangerous territory when you can't have any real benefit for 24/7 use?

So be it, I'll RMA the CPU... I don't care if it dies... If it dies from 1.65Vdimm or slightly higher, then that's a flaw in my opinion... Most here that own high speed rams ain't gonna downclock to run at 1.5ish voltages... nor will they buy 1.5Vdimms for that reason either... and believe me it will not die as quick as that... a while back it was too high FSB term voltages, then Vcore spikes, then I7 with low voltage rams and now this...

Try a HCI memtest mate, mine crapped out when playing Battlefield, Linx though was perfectly fine... if you can run these at 1.55, good for you... mine need a tad more

If you don't care, then that's OK. Everybody can kill a CPU easily, but it's more fun to find a healthy and good 24/7 OC.
That looks much better, see what you get get with 1.55v. Lesson up timings as much you can, it won't have much effect on performance.
