Overclock yourself, you must!!!
The difference in efficiency for 1M will be around 1500 maybe (2.4 - 70500 // 3.0 - 69000), which is very little in real-life. However, it's always cool to show off 3G NB clocks ...![]()

Maybe he just got the country wrong when he joined or something.I can almost swear that I've seen that avatar on SH... Could be "stolen" I guess.
And Massman: what are you're temps? Since Lastviking here uses the same cooler and is a bit disappointed by the temps he's getting (read on Swedish forum) it could be interesting to know. Do you have an established 24/7 clock yet? Lastviking is doing 3,6GHz with 70°C at load...
Will have my new DFI DK790FXB M2SRH by tomorrow, and hopefully my new RAM (2x1GB CellShock PC8000 CL4, 2.1v - 2.3v D9GKX) will be here tuesday or friday... Throwing my current motherboard infront of a train :P

That is a pretty big difference between massman and Ming@s in their 32m runs. I would not think that it would be that big with the NB only being 400MHz faster. I really didn't imagine the HT Link making any difference in Pi, however after looking at it again it may just be that since the ram speed of Ming@s is almost half of massman so that could be a big part. Roughly 2.5 minutes is pretty big though for roughly the same cpu clocks though.

I've got an 0851APDW (I'm in Australia). Its going to be hooked upto my R404a modded Mach II, really pumped to see how high she goes. I'm just waiting on my custom CPU mounting bracket to be laser cut from the metal shop. Will be quite the upgrade from my X2 4200+

no results to report yet: its tough picking up this phenom stuff! (used X2 6400 before now) and the cards are stacked against me - buggy beta bios (voltages, multi's, timings), limited headroom on ocp, SB600, no nbfid, nb voltage locked at 1.525v in bios O.o? - (only got nbvid + 0.x0 options also)..
will report back: atm, 3200mhz/stock volts 2300mhz nb / 1.3v (as low as k10stat takes it before hanging) ram at ~1020 4-5-5-15, fsb@ 256

Heh! New xtremesystems member here. Took only 2.5 weeks to get access to this forum...
It was me who did you quote on the Newegg Phenom 940 review. That PC and CPU I no longer have. (It was a build I custom made to a friend.)
After that I build a new PC for myself using PII 940 (0850DPMW) and Gigabyte mobo and got 3.5GHz overclock at stock voltage. 3.6 is stable with 1.40V. Also the Kingston HyperX PC8500 RAM I can run at 1066 speed, while with the earlier build it was not stable, no matter what timings, DIMM voltages or CPU NB voltages I tried. What do you think, was the earlier MoBo bad? (It was ASUS M3A78-T. Afterwards I did read that this particular type has terrible Vcore droop... that certainly is not helping when overclocking.)
TIP: I had slight memory stability issues with this build too, but once I increased the CPU-NB voltage by 0.1 those are solved. NB is currently clocked at 2.4GHz.
I told to my friend about my success with my build and we agreed to RMA his CPU. It was just sent out today.. so it will take a while to get the replacement. Hopefully the new one is better... at least the memory should be stable at PC8500 speed.
At the moment I'm very happy with my new PC. It is now idling at 3.5GHz and consumes 95W from the wall... I don't have yet a videocard, so I use the built in video. At full CPU load (Prime, OCCT,...) the wattmeter show 195W peak. If I downclock the CPU to 800MHz and put Vcore to 0.8V the wattmeter show 70W. So at best the Cool'n'quiet can save ~20W in power at idle... which is neglible to be bothered with, in my opinion. (Especially when it makes overclocking impossible, unless just by increasing HTT clock.)
well, here is my 3.8ghz PI 32M run in Windows 7 32bit
