yea i saw that didn't they say earlier that it would drop to 225? anyway its a nice drop just after the chip was released and maybe we will see more when am3 comes out but im not counting on it anymore. also i thought this phenom II 940 review was funny: another person saying their tech level is high.

Pros: Played a week with this chip and best (everyday practical use) I got is 3.4GHz stable (64-bit Prime, OCCT, etc...) using 64-bit Vista ultimate. NorthBridge multiplier 10x, NB volts 1.325V. CPU Vcore 1.4375V, CPU multi 15X and HTT 226MHz. Memory at 800 (not 1066). Temps at full CPU load around 56C using Antec Sonata III case (case fan at middle speed setting) and Xigmatek HDT-S1284EE heatsink.

Cons: Could not get 2x 2GB Kingston HyperX (PC8500 5-5-5-15) work completely stable at rated speed. Newest motherboard BIOS (0802) helped a bit, but still random BSOD's... using 1066 memory speed also increased CPU temps by couple degrees and reduced highest stable CPU overclock to 3.3GHz.

Stock heatsink run 10C hotter than the Xigmatek. It is only good enough for the CPU at stock speed/voltages... Don't expect to overclock with it!

Other Thoughts: Seeing all those report people reaching almost 4GHz stable (really?) with air cooling... I'm sceptical. I tried my best and didn't get even close! What gives? Worse than average chip???

Using Kill-a-Watt power meter the setup below use 175W at idle (no Cool'n'quiet) and 274W at full CPU load (Prime) With Prime and 3DMark running together peak I noticed was 340W.

My rig:
64-bit Win Vista Ultimate
ASUS M3A78-T
Phenom II 940 (0849APMW)
Antec Sonata III with 500W Earthwatts PSU
2X2GB Kingston HyperX 1066 (5-5-5-15, 2.2V) @ 904 5-4-4-12-15, 1.9V
Sapphire Radeon HD4870 1GB (810/1000)
WD Raptor 74GB for system
WD 750GB for data
3DMark06: 15900
