i measure mine close to the base of the evaporator. I file the side of the evap and dab the k-type probe in thermo paste rub some onto the evap and then tape her tight.
hey dude great packing, but might you want to photoshop out the address?

The reason i'm asking all these questions is cause i made a new cascade with two rotary compressors ( 30cc each one ) . I don't have very good evap temps (-107c idle , -96c with 230watt cartridge) cause the vacuum is very high (about 15hg under load) . I'm using 1.7m 0.078 ... but i think i have to try something like 1.5m (or 3m 0.091) .

    Thank you Kayl again !!

have your tried adding more 1150 to get it to 5-10hg low side pressure.
more gas will hold higher loads. but ya need a good first stage to handle the second stage and an expansion tank

Adding more 1150 doesn't help the temperatures at all . Best temperature is held at 10-15hg pressure .
1st stage is always in vacuum . 5-10hg . 2nd stage liquid line at -43c ... and 2nd stage high pressure about 150psi under load . 1st stage high pressure goes up to 320-340psi (dual 0.031 captube 2.3m but maybe need to cut some)

So far , best i've managed to get was -107c idle and -96c under 200w heat load (with heat cartridge) . Room temp about 25C .

Next days I'm getting a bigger heatload (about 320W) .

I'll make a new thread soon , cause i don't like to spam your thread .

Got a slow start to my latest cascade, insulated the accumulators on each compressor. Brazed the plate hx and pressure tested it no leaks. Also checked the high pressure cut off and hot gas bypass solenoid to make sure no leaks before brazing system together.
Big thanxs to duniek for the foam inserts for my cpu heads as a result don’t need to use the circlips, now need to get some more enclosures machined to accommodate the foam inserts

Little update, pressure tested a few more sections of the cascade and have brazed the system together. Just need to get a high side pressure gauge so I can vacume the second stage ready to charge with refrigerant

Looking great Kayl, With Phenom II's loving the cold, better scaling D0 i7's (hopefully) and maybe even E8700's, It's an exciting time to be getting one of these

    Can't wait

Well its been just over a month now and cascade is still holding same pressure, time to send the cascade off.
Been doing some i7920 benching was able to bench hyper threading at 4.6ghz, cpu had cold bug at -95c or so, the cold bug switch came in handy to keep temps below that temperature. Pitty I didn’t have QX chip to really test the cascade.
Had a friend come around with his QX9650 which was really badly cold bugged at -92c. When it rebooted we had to wait till temps were below -50c before it would boot.
So no good results to post, sorry guys.

    Very good idea.

cant wait to see how the i7 960 goes, getting sick of ln2 benching

Picked up some parts this week to get a start on my new cascade.
This unit will be my benching unit, triple head action CPu plus 2x gpu heads for some 3dmark benching heheh
The compressor are 1.75hp for the first stage and 1.5hp for the second stage.

Biggest condenser that fits in my case

    30 Plate Heat exchange

    Oil separator and expansion tank

Scott- That's the only way to go!

kayl-sick of LN2?? WTF? I know you too well for that brother,But a kick but cascade that will throw the numbers will make life much easier
I would have replied sooner but the compression explosion device in my motion traction system needed to be replenished with distillation fractionation of fossilisation extraction....

well when i say sick of ln2, i mean getting up and walking over to the dewer, filling my flask then walking back to my desk. Then during a bench topping up the ln2 tube with ln2 I would rater walking off to the fridge to grab another beer without worrying about temps dropping while im away

Cut the stainless flex lines tonight and the capillary lines.
went with 2.7m feeds to the gpu heads and 2.4m to the cpu head.
Base plate drilled, just need to pick up some wheels, bolts and washers and i cant start to bolt things in place ready to braze.

What temps are you aiming for?

    gonna use r507/ethylene?

It's funny that in my post that you quoted yesterday, when I wrote that post I knew virtually nothing about phase, and now, in the same thread, I've already successfully build a chiller
    e8600: 6261 mhz (LN2)

    i will use r404a/ 1150, 3 heads at -100c would be nice
Chillers are fun to build, i built many chiller before a SS unit

Did a fair amount of brazing tonight, still need to order a few more parts to continue on.

Brazed up the pressure gauge and also the high pressure cut off switch, will pressure test these before brazing into the system

thats a good idea hey, i have loctite as well, ill do that next time

Some pics of the new gpu enclosures i designed.
THis time mount plate at the bottom of the enclosure so i can use my Ln2 gpu mountings 2.5mm fixings.
No need to drill the mounting holes out of the gpus now

Very nice build! What did you use to make the insulation mold for the evaporator? What type of insulation?
