RocketFish(rebadged LianLi) Cases!

I'm going to dig out of the 2 feet of snow here and check this out. I actually looked at this case before for an all internal h2o setup.

I wonder if I can get my 120.3 Thermochill and 3 yateloon mounted internally above the mobo. Anyone know?

Actually technically that works too as it will keep him and the hardware at the same potential, even if that potential is different then a true ground.

Almost done putting a phase in, the case now looks like a V1000, if I make a run of these I'll get the metal piece made in 18 gauge aluminum vs the 22/24 I just used thats just going to serve as a barrier, not a support.
PSU is going in bottom compartment with the phase unit, and room for a normal PSU no problem, if I go through with the thinner taller condensers (same capactiy or better) I can fit a galaxy sized PSU then.

Thanks, all thats left is videocard, soundcard, and two optical drives(which will use rounded cable) and the DVD-ROM power cable is already there... Also i will have one more HDD but the cables for that one are also there as well.

Oh and i have to put the NB heatsink in, but i will only do that once i get the CPU because i dont wan to let the thermal paste sit there cold. Gotta burn it in a bit.

damnit to hell! i hate best buy. the manager was such a jerk off. i went to the local best buy and the manager said he wouldn't price match it. he didn't even look at the receipt. he told me it was his discretion on ANY price match. so i called the corp. number right in front of him and had national customer service call him. and they sided with him. they said since the receipt was out of the store regional territory that he didn't have to match it. BS.

who wants to buy one of these and ship it to me??

Yep I got the same run around from 5 bestbuy stores near me.

Basically it comes down to this, if an item is on clearance at BestBuy Store #1 and at X amount cheaper than BestBuy Store #2 with the item also being on clearance over there, it is up to the store manager(s) to honor a price match on a case by case basis.

But the above does not apply here, simply because this RocketFish Case is on clearance + it is discontinued... at least at my bestbuy stores.

And even then, these managers at my bestbuy stores wont mention a peep about price matching anything unless you bring it up first.... and to top that off and make things worse, they will then say in response to a PM request that since this item is on clearance and being discontinued, that they have no reason to honor a PM against a lower price of another Bestbuy store, be it regional or not.

So here is how things get a little weird, the people getting successful PMing in states like IL, NJ, etc. where the price is NOT already on super low clearance + discontinuation prices of under $119.99 (the base price), are actually getting lucky and convincing those store managers to go out of their way and sell the item *mind you already on clearance + discontinuation price* at a matching price of another bestbuy store all the way over in California as it seems so far, and I say that because in California there are about maybe only a handful of stores out of a hundred or so that have this case at the discontinued + clearance price of the equivalent of an open box price; $71.99 (if the store does not care about the shelf space being used by these cases) or $47.99 (if the store just wants to get rid of them quickly)

And to those of you having a hard time getting the super low $47.99 price, just do what I did.

Call 5 stores nearby your zip code. Then compare the prices and find the store that has the shelf price marked up at under $119.99 (base price @ clearance but possibly not discontinued) which would seem to be from my research, $94.95 (discontinued + clearance + shelf space being required by other items)

Then ask this store to hold 1 unit for you and just tell them you will pick it up the next day.

Now wait for the next day to pass and then DO NOT pick up the case.... they wont care that you did not come by to pick it up... All they do is set aside the case on another shelf somewhere for you when you come to pick it up.

Now when the store sees that you did not pick up the case AND that the other units of this same item on clearance + discontinued mark down is also still sitting on the same shelf, the store should then mark down the price from the already super low $94.95 to $71.99 (usually takes about a day or two) and then repeat same process again and price will go from $71.99 to $47.99 (should only take 1 day) **assuming ofcourse the same number of stock the first day you called in, is the same number on the day the store makes the decision to cut the price again to $47.99

Basically its a gamble. I got lucky and all 3 RocketFish cases that started at $119.99 on March 3rd ending up going to $47.99 as of yesterday ... and I really only needed 2.

Beyond $47.99, I am not sure what the store will do but I did not take my chance, rather just spent some money on gasoline ... and then drove 15 miles to a BestBuy store that had these cases on clearance + discontinuation + needed the shelf space for other stuff.

And this is the LEGIT way to get the best buy, if you will on anything on clearance that is also on discontinued price and the shelf space is needed for something else.

So for the people getting this case by PMing, well I commend you guys because I went SOL doing this as I get the same run around #su received from his BestBuy store. Ofcoruse I did not bother going any further to get the PM though.

Personally speaking, I think BestBuy Managers are all crooks.

On a more positive note, the best PM experience I had was at CircuitCity getting a $4449.99 Samsung 52" LNT5271F LCD TV for $2450 even after tax AND it came with a TV Wall Mount kit PLUS an HDMI 10ft cable. (total value is about $5200 ... it was a really expensive Wall mount hehe and good quality too) ... but ofcourse I had to also spend the gas and run around CircuitCity stores to get this deal. ... also LEGIT btw...

Oh yah and I also got my 10% off.. but only on 1 case of the 3 I bought... going to try and get my local Bestbuy (6 mins away from me) to honor the 10% off on all 3 cases rather than just 1 lol (they said it was allowed.. so why not) ....Ill post my receipt in next post

Is it just me or are the fans really quite good?

Are they now... I actually was reading about the fans on some other forums and from what I gather, they are super quiet.

Has anyone done a window mod on this? just curious if anyone has any parts suggestions, i plan on doing one this week.

I'm putting a fan grill of sorts on the lower right to allow the phase unit to exhaust air not into the case, what do you want to do Russian?

I would simply painters tape the entire thing, draw out carefully (and measure twice) your window. Start in the area you'll be throwing out, if you have like a 1.5" holesaw, drill a hole, then jigsaw from their. If you have a dremel, just start after the tape and design go cutting, be ready to file afterwards. Or, if you have a full holesaw set, use them as tracers for your windows curves if any, and then use them to remove all said curves, and jigsaw/hacksaw/dremel to remove the non bend sections.

Yah it should just discharge as long as it is making contact via the clips to any metal or unpainted portions of the case, which should be metal or in this case aluminum.

Oh and before I tear through these three RocketFish boxes, what exactly is included in the box other than the case itself ? ... reason I ask is because I think I may have gotten some openbox/returned rocketfish cases.... altough the store said they were all new even after the fact they saw the crappy tape job all over the outside packaging box on these cases.

Ill post some pictures later if I can get my new camera to work...

I went to two stores nearest me. Both had them for $119. They even looked on the computer and saw that stores 20 minutes away had them for $47.99 & $71.99 but wouldn't price match. I just made the drive to one of the stores and didn't bother arguing or asking any questions. This hower suxs for people who don't have multiple stores near them with the lower prices available. I'm sure if you wait though and check back often, they will all reach the $47.99 price. After all it's a clearance Item and they won't be receiving new shipments other than clearing out warehouses.

Glad to hear i got it for 90 then.... trying to nab one for my dad for 50 bucks but they are all being very stubborn. I like my local BB because the manager met me half way which is okay by me.

bottom line is best buy customer service is close to the worst a major retailer can be. they could care less about the customer. and i don't see why, best buy managers get swapped out weekly, and they don't get crap for selling anything. they are disposable. why do they care if they price match. circuit city will price match ANYTHING. if another store has an open item, that is discontinued, and damaged, and 90% cheaper than the brand new one they have, they'll still price match it. they will do anything to keep the customer coming back. at least the circuit city's near me are like that.

Thank you... the store that had it for 90 put it below clearance price for a reason... if I were you I would call them back and get them to put one on hold and ask how many are left and if they will be ordering more.

If they tell you they are not going to order more, then you are definitely going to see the price drop assuming no one buys any for a couple days from that point on.

Ive opend up 2 of my 3 rocketfish cases thus far and it doesnt look like I will be needing the third unless something comes up in the next week or so. So if all else fails, I might just sell you the third case lol... since you are almost near to where I live in CALIFORNIA then the shipping shouldn't be that much.... but try what I said earlier first.

Oh and I forgot to ask you, what are you using to tie up those cables ?? velcro straps ? (they look pretty nice and seem to do the job well)

I am really sorry to hear that... unfortunately it would seem that the rocketfish case is not discontinued in your region.... and that definitely means your local BB stores are not going to PM against any other stores... but I do agree with you there, the BB customer service is utterly the worst ever... even the 99cent stores around my area offer better customer service lol.

Pics of phased case little bit later, waiting for the V1000 style aluminum fold up I made to dry. Nice and flat black. And I dont have a galaxy but I'm saying, this is rev1 when I post pics, a normal PSU fits; rev2 I think I can get a galaxy to fit.
