Do whatever you like however. I'll buy your parts.

I have to run it like that. My LAN cable running to the other room is just barely enough to reach my computer. It took long enough drilling holes in the closet and trying to get the cables through to get a longer cable in there.

Just so you know... CAT-5 is less than $0.25 per foot...

It's not the cost. It's running it through the walls that wouldn't be worth the effort. My computer is gonna be moved to a different room soon anyway, and won't be as close to the floor.

There is Cat 5 extension cables which are cheap also. If you dont want to buy it make it.

Anyways on my case I have made most of the cuts except for the reversed HDDs. In total I have made 5 cuts for the motherboard I will be getting. I have not decided between the P5N32-E SLI or the Striker Extreme. Both have the exact same layout.

I have just ran into a slight problem though.

Bottom Left = 1394 Firewire port barely will make it
Bottom Middle = Plenty of cable for the USB ports
Bottom Right = WTF I need more cable.
Middle Right = Plenty of cable for the Audio ports

The bottom right of the motherboard will be the location for the top panel LEDs and buttons. Only 1 of the cables will have enough length to make it and the other two being the reset switch and HDD LED needs another few inches to make it.

I looked a few months ago for a extension cable for them but I could not find any. If anyone knows where I can get some please direct.

After I file the edges of the cuts I plan on getting some Dupli-Color DA 1605 Flat Black to paint the inside of the case. I think a black chassis will turn out better. I wont be doing the side panels so where the hole is I will just get some masking tap and paint it with the paint or I will just use the tape to cover the side and only paint what will show though. The HDD chassis will be the more worrisome because they may scratch being put back into the chassis.

I was thinking about powder coating but I believe it will be far more expensive. Plus after about 3 or 4 coats of the flat black it should turn out nice. I just hope I dont scratch the HDD cages putting them back in. I may put masking tape on them when sliding them so they dont scratch.

    No worries

I would love to have it on top of my desk, it's just that it would require me taking apart my desk to remove a shelf and having to rewire a new ethernet cable.

Although the more I think about it, the more I actually want to do it.

Edit: Yeah, they made the cables for the top panel too short. I think you might have to make your own one way or another. If you find the extension though, let me know where!

I had to extend mine - just got some of the leads from an old case and soldered and heatshrunk the joints then resleeved the whole lead

I assume you mean spray paint and not brush on - I tried both and trust me - spraying gives a MUCH better finish - and is usually a lot quicker drying too.
As for the drive cages scratching after painting - i think its pretty much unavoidable - the cages are such a close fit - i chrome effected my drive cages and it deffo scratches on the sides as you slide it in/out - no big deal tho - as you can't see it once its in

Simple... Don't hook them up. I never use them, so I hid them behind the wall..

The ones that control the LED and the switches can easily be extended..

I may end up soldering even though I am really not that good at it. I have plenty of cable around here from those buttons so it is the same size. I managed to get a few more millimeters out of it but I still need about a half an inch.

I was talking about spray paint.

I was thinking about sanding but I dont know if it is necessary. Did you sand before spraying? I really am only going to paint what shows. The entire interior for the case and drive cages, the back of the case and the entire exterior of the drive cages

I was putting my drive cages back in when trying to place where I need to cut for it and noticed it does not come out. So long as the inside and back does not scratch I will be ok.

You can find such a drive at a decent pc-store...
    I bought mine here.

Ofcourse an external drive would also be possible... I like mine as Ch3cksum did

oh well. I didnt use any for the first 3 coats of flat black. I did not really like the turnout of it so I sanded it lightly with some fine sand paper. After that I sprayed it with some Gloss Black spray paint. I am still not 100% happy with the turnout out but I think after it is all put back together it will look ok. It did not turn out very glossy either which is really the only thing I am happy about.

I will post some pictures in a few days to let the paint get good a dry.

I like how you went all red, something I wanted to do, but it would cost too much to replace 5 120MM fans. I would turn the CPU cooler if possible, so that way the cool air goes directly to the CPU fan. What fans did you use?

Well i sold the three TriCool 120mm ones that came with the case.
So actually i didn't go all that bad and i got only 4 new red 120mm fans because i had one before.
And they are not that expencive, like 8euros a piece with 1 year warranty.
The problem is that with the TR eXtreme you cant turn it sideways in Nine hundred.
    Bugger.
This is the only way possible.
For fans i await Scythe S-Flex to replace this Noctua although it's epic in quiet.
In case i use Cooler Master Silent Red SUF-S12-ER.
And there is a Cooler Master SUF-S82-ER on the southbridge but it was removed during the time of taking the photo.
And the 200mm big boy on top.
Red is nice but it looks good only with a black interior so i had to respray that in order to get red only glow inside.
Whatever i insert it glows red, like mobo my LanParty is green and orange.

You could go for the ruby Orb.
I have a blue Orb myself and they cool very well (@ ~1580 rpm)

prepare for the worst paint job ever....

I pretty much gave up on trying to get the inside smooth because it was basically impossible with spray paint. I got the bottom, back and most of the bottom inside smooth but the rest was not.

I really only focused on getting the parts which will show smooth. Once a PC is put in it should look pretty good. In around 2 or 3 weeks I should have my new PC parts so I can put them in.

The only way I see getting the paint smooth is to disassemble the case and then paint. I do not want to do that.

That is my first attempt at any kind of modification to a PC case.

The reason it looks purple behind the holes is because it is a sharpe to masking tape. I didnt want to paint the side panels. It looks black so long as light does not shine on it. The inside of the case looks a whole lot better if light is not shining on it. The sharpe works good on areas which get scratched. I used it on some of the slot covers because they scratched when I put them in.
