    X1900gt

ATI X1900GT available at Best Buy
Well even though the card will be officially revealed on the 9th of Mai, some have already grabbed one at their local Best Buy stores. The card works at 574Mhz in 3D and 500MHz in 2D. The memory is clocked at 594Mhz. The packaging is tagged as a X1900GT, while the card itself is has a green sticker on it, which reads X1900GTO, so it seems ATI had a change of heart at the last minute and renamed the cards.

    benchmarks
    First ATI X1900GT Benchmarks
As you may guess HKEPC once again is the first site to show some benchmarks between the mid-high range segment video cards, or the 7900GT GPUs from NVIDIA and ATIs Radeon X1900GT. The latest R580 modification is Radeon X1900GT previously known as X1900GTO. From the tests conducted by HKEPC, the X1900GT beats the 7900GT in 3D Mark 05 and 06 but loses out in 3D Mark 03. In Game Tests, the X1900GT leads in Half Life 2 and BattleField 2 but lags behind in FEAR, Doom 3, Splinter Cell and Serious Sam 2. It seems that the 7900GT is still the overall winner in terms of gaming.

Hmm.. Already available eh. I bet this does crossfire dongle-less. That should be quite interesting.

I see what I see, and you see what you see. I can't make you see what I see, but I can tell you what I see is not what you see. Truth is, we see what we want to see, and what we want to see is what those around us see. And what we don't see is... well, conspiracies.

Mmm. Why do you say that because 7900GT/GTX has 2ALUS/unit? This is mistaken and grossly overrated....If you consider 7900GT/GTX to have 48 pixel shader processors and not 24 with 2 ALUS then X1900GT has 72 and x1900xt/x has 96..

Also IF those extra 12 pipes WILL BE UNLOCKABLE then we are talkin about a hidden r580 with low price ..

Doubt they will make the same mistake again and let people unlock it, but that would make the card the best deal on the planet.

Yeah I highly doubt this too..
But if you consider that many 7900gt cards can be modded with success to very high clocks (more like 7900gtxs in disguise and super price..) then for this card to succeed..
    Either
    1) It must allow for really high o/c yields
    2) It will allow unlocking at a good % of success..
Though I doubt it seems like they will be using defective r580s..
In any case it will be a good alternative for the 7900gt if you don't o/c but I highly doubt that this will be the case with o/cability..

Why do you believe that ATI will use poor overclocking cores, and nvidia use good o/cing cores in their equivalent part?

I don't. Who said that? I'm just saying that 7900GT has a high percentage in high o/c, so in order for ATI to heat the competition for an o/cker and not just stay in stock speed comparison, should follow one of the 2 routes I mentioned before.. Because if they are priced similar and perform the same in stock why wouldn't someone choose the 7900GT? There's the matter of IQ of course but we are talkin about a huge increase in performance through o/c in 7900gt,so I think this will affect their decision more..
Because this is what makes 7900gt a great card for the price right now. The extreme o/cing ability it has..So ATI has to follow..

Well ATI or someone else has to release a decent overclocking tool for X1000 cards first...its a major headache right now and nvidia definitly has the edge in that respect.

    Powercolor X1900 GT launched

Tul Corporation, a leading provider of cutting-edge graphic cards, today announces the PowerColor X1900 GT, the latest addition to the flagship X1900 series.

The X1900 GT brings forth an enthusiast graphic card for the price-conscious with a suggest retail price of USD349; by far the lowest of any X1900 cards offered to date. The single-slot monster uses the ATI Radeon R580 core, with clock speed of 575MHz , 1.2 GHz memory clock and 256MB of DDR3. The 36 pixel shader processors and 8 vertex shaders easily delivers eye-watering visuals for today's latest games.

As with the entire X1K series, PowerColor X1900 GT is CrossFireâ„¢ ready and supports DirectX 9c, Open GL 2.0 and Shader Model 3.0; enabling anti-aliasing with HDR. Avivo engine also ensures accelerated video decode and encode of the latest video formats and support for High-Definition (HD) videos.

ATi needs 100M transistors extra. If you look at performance per transistor and image what happened if nVidia did used the space 90nm gives them. They didn't because they can compete ATI with much cheaper chips now.

That's true, I think the ATI card will show their real power in the future For now nVidia can make cheap cards that can compete ATI's cards.

I'm positive that R580's power will be fully unleashed when games such as UT2007, Crysis, Alan Wake, etc. come out. Like ATI said in the interview, the architecture was supposed to be long-lasting.

Anyways, since X1800GTO was able to unlock pipes, I think that X1900GT will be able to do so as well... we just need to find out how...

Lets not forget that X1900GT's stock RAM setting is very low... and 1.4ns GDDR3 should OC pretty well
