    Ebay Mystery

I picked this dual compressor unit off of eBay for super cheap. It’s somewhat dated but in mint condition. Appears to be custom built but builder unknown. I was told it may be an old Kryotech prototype. I haven’t tested it for load, but I’m hoping it can be modified to carry a Q6600. Has any one ever seen one of these, or have any info on it?

It indeed seems to be some kind of Kyrotech prototype. Compressor is what they like to use and so is evaporator mounting mechanism.
The compressor is really nice one indeed. Tad bit stronger than NF9FX in US version while not dumping too much heat. It is also quiet compared to some others I've seen.

Isn't a balance line required to equalize the oil level?

Uhhhh, NICE! This question can only be answered by KryoTech, because there is about that no information. I have never seen something like that. The unit could be already several years old.

Looks like there is a connection between those compressors, but this is not really shown on the pictures...

jkenzie, could you make more photos, as soon as you get the unit? I am really very interested in it. And I am certainly not the only one.

Looks pretty damn awesome indeed. Funny how there is another discussion on parallel compressors and then this pops up.

Wow incredible find! Havent seen one of those in a longggg time.
I beleive the oil was drained from the units, and in a somewhat smart attempt, a hole was drilled into the oil area on both compressor and a copper tube brazed in. So the oil "pans" are connected and thus equalize.

You must have never seen a Super G2, it was nothing remotely like that.

Here is a pic of one of the original Super G2s (only difference between Super G and G2 is the socket mounting).

Doubt that's meant to be a rackmount, even if it looks the part. It's too wide to fit into a standard rack, but it sure does look minimalistic-professional.

Here are some more pics that show the compressor connections and the evap.
It’s only 17” wide so I think it was intended to be rack mount. That combined with the hole pattern on the mount which appears to be Socket 603/604/771 (Xeon).
I’m new to phase and was thinking seriously about having one of you guys build me one. But when I saw this for $150.00, I couldn’t pass it up.
I still want a dual head cascade though

Considering the time period was Tbirds, you might want to think its tuned for in the 100-125w range.
Could we get a zoomed in shot on these spots, (at least one)
Want to know if they were meant to be tandem or modified to be.

That was my assumption, considering Xeon's at the time were running around 80 watts. I don't know how hard it would be to rework this unit for an OC'ed Quad, or if it would even be worth it. It seems like it was a good deal for parts alone. I've benched as far as my chiller will allow so it's time to step up to the next level.
    Here's a close up shot,

It appears that way, but I'm no expert.
The compressors are connect at that point and on the suction. But each compressor has it’s own condenser and filter/dryer and then join together into the cap tube. It also appears they made no provision for equalizing oil.
