@Alien-Grey,
thank you for the link to mikeyakame´s post. That was the right driver.
How come ASUS doesn´t have this one in download option?
The version 6260 or 6280 wasn´t compatible to the service pack 2 for Vista.

With Strong or Stronger it's difficult to keep it stable. You really have to push the NB and give to much voltage for the performance gain that you have. These where my stable clocks with my OCZ Reapers HPC PC2-8500 and they didn't like more bandwidth.
The FSB 465MHz is just for testing BIOS 0902 because I want to start with settings that I'm 100% sure that they are stable.
I would like it to run at FSB 470MHz and DDR 1253MHz with tRD6 if that could be possible with my G.SKILL F2-9600CL5D-4GBPI.

Going up and down on Route "Vlt" with no luck. I leave to it and will save some money to change the CPU.

I'm going to give it an other try with BIOS 0902.
With BIOS 0803 and my G.SKILLS at 1117MHz it's a no go too.
I'm going to use BIOS 0902 again and see if I can get it stable with this BIOS at 8 X 450MHz and DDR 1199MHz with tRD 6. These are the clocks that I've been using with my G.SKILL F2-9600CL5D-4GBPI.
I'm thinking that there is a compatibility problem with these sticks and the ASUS Rampage Formula.
OverClocking or UnderClocking this memory seems to be impossible on the ASUS Rampage Formula.![]()
Yoh Alien Grey,
these are about the same settings I am using for 24/7. They are LinX stable (20 runs). I´m running it with 9*450 MHz though.
I thinks it has definitly something to do if you use a quad or a C2D.
I suppose this board isn´t realy made for quads. If you use quads you have to fire up your nb voltage over 1,5v to get a stable system.
I hope your trying won´t fail![]()

The problem starts when you don't use the sticks at there rated speed.
The memory runs fine at lower or higher speed. It's as stable as can be in MemTest for Windows but it fails in LinX.
I think that greg.m has it right when he says that we need a BIOS that "improve memory compatibilty". That could be the problem.![]()
I don´t argue.
The default memory settings at 1,200 MHz, 5-5-5-15 do not cause any problems at all. No matter if I am running Memtest 86+ Vers. 2.11, test#5, or LinX.
As you remember did I open up a thread in ASUSTech. forum if anybody got his system over 1,200 MHz ram speed stable. The answere was zero!
I totaly agree that we all need a BIOS that improves the memory compatibility

Here are my "Magical" settings.
Try it to get it to run as stable as possible in LinX. Look what happens when you change the NB Voltage one step.Code:Ai Overclock Tuner [Manual] CPU Ratio Setting [8.0] FSB Strap to North Bridge [333MHz] FSB Frequency [465MHz] PCIE Frequency [100MHz] DRAM Frequency [1117MHz] DRAM Command Rate [2N] DRAM CLK Skew on Channel A/B [Auto] DRAM TimingControl [Auto] DRAM Static Read Control [Enabled] Ai Clock Twister [Moderate] Ai Transaction Booster [Manual] Common Performance Level [07] Pull-In of CHA/B all disabled CPU Voltage [1.36250V] CPU PLL Voltage [1.50V] North Bridge Voltage [1.41V] DRAM Voltage [1.80V] FSB Termination Voltage [1.32V] South Bridge Voltage [1.05V] SB 1.5V Voltage [1.50V] Loadline Calibration [Disabled] CPU GTL Voltage Reference [0.63X] NB GTL Voltage Reference [0.67X] DRAM Controller Voltage REF [Auto] DRAM Channel A/B Voltage REF [Auto] CPU Spread Spectrum [Disabled] PCIE Spread Spectrum [Disabled] CPU Clock Skew [Delay 100ps] NB Clock Skew [Delay 100ps] CPU Ratio Setting [8.0] C1E Support [Disabled] CPU TM Function [Enabled] Vanderpool Technology [Disabled] Execute Disable Bit [Enabled] Max CPUID Value Limit [Disabled
When you change the NB Voltage with one step you will see a change in the amount of stable passes in LinX.
The solution to solve this problem is the skew. I think that with smaller skew steps we will get it stable. Without the smaller skew steps we're SK(r)EWED.![]()
mikeyakame I remember that in one of your posts about bios modifying you mentioned something about sli - any progress on that?

Yo Alien Grey,
do you have a link for downloading LinX? My LinX won´t work anymore for some reason
Is it bad for the CPU if the temp. goes up to 73°C ?
Does a good cooling prevent the electromigration?

It's the skew that makes it fail with the G.SKILL F2-9600CL5D-4GBPI.
With finer skew adjustments it's going to be possible to have it stable with higher DDR speeds and this memory.
I've got my stable clocks back at 3.6GHz and DDR 1199MHz with tRD 6.
Here are my settings for BIOS 0902.
LinX stable for 25 passes with BIOS 0902.Code:Ai Overclock Tuner [Manual] CPU Ratio Setting [8.0] FSB Strap to North Bridge [400MHz] FSB Frequency [450MHz] PCIE Frequency [100MHz] DRAM Frequency [1199MHz] DRAM Command Rate [2N] DRAM CLK Skew on Channel A/B [Auto] DRAM Timing Control [Auto] DRAM Static Read Control [Enabled] Ai Clock Twister [Moderate] Ai Transaction Booster [Manual] Common Performance Level [06] Pull-In of CH A/B all disabled CPU Voltage [1.32500V] CPU PLL Voltage [1.50V] North Bridge Voltage [1.35V] DRAM Voltage [1.80V] FSB Termination Voltage [1.24V] South Bridge Voltage [1.05V] SB 1.5V Voltage [1.50V] Loadline Calibration [Disabled] CPU GTL Voltage Reference [0.63X] NB GTL Voltage Reference [0.67X] DRAM Controller Voltage REF [Auto] DRAM Channel A/B Voltage REF [Auto] CPU Spread Spectrum [Disabled] PCIE Spread Spectrum [Disabled] CPU Clock Skew [Delay 200ps] NB Clock Skew [Delay 100ps] CPU Ratio Setting [8.0] C1E Support [Disabled] CPU TM Function [Enabled] Vanderpool Technology [Disabled] Execute Disable Bit [Enabled] Max CPUID Value Limit [Disabled]
All we need now is smaller skew steps in the BIOS and we should have no problem to run higher DDR speeds. CPU and NB Clock Skew settings from Normal to 700 in steps of 50ps could do the trick.![]()

When it's running at 73°C all the time it's better to buy a good cooler.
I'm not going to say that you will see degradation if you run with that high temperature but you never know.
My good old Pentium D 840@4.2GHz was running BOINC all the time at 65-75° and there's still no signs of degradation. It still runs at 4.2GHz on the same CPU Voltage.
A-Grey.. Top man and cudos for 25pass with LinX. Could you pls do me a favor next time you with a test.
Iam interest of knowing how many amps the CPU counts. In Everest neat the bottom of the list will show Amps and Watts.
Just interesting of knowing have many amps/watts your cpu consumes.
Ìf anyone else is kind to take the time and read out these 2 values , much appreciated.
Greg.M, can you do the same pls.

I did that a while ago to see how much watt it uses. The result is impressive. It's so low that it's impossible that the read out could be correct.
The makers of EVEREST Ultimate Edition say that it's the EPO chip that reports such a low watt consumption.
I'll post a screen shot later.
This is what EVEREST reports as my power consumption.
The highest peaks are measured while LinX was running.
Not bad for 3.6GHz if it's actually true this low power consumption.![]()
There is an other page as well where this info is shown., will update from home.
Well iam on 180W.. and abouts 100amps..according to the reading. will post a picture later on from home.
The info iam taking the reading from is under Everest main page.
