    koolance 45s and bp 1/2s

    loop without 90

same loop but added the delrin and bitspower barbs

same loop but with the bitspower q-connector(highflow) with bitspower barbs

same loop but with the koolance 45s x2 (90)

oh the senior members are going to be mad . . . .we can't have actual tests that show the 90 degree circle of hate is unfounded . . . .oh the humanity of it all!!!

very surprising that the 2x45s hurt flow more than the 90s. Id be interested in seeing how 2x BP 45 Rotaries compared to them

Im curious to see Feser's 45 rotary in there. I noticed theres metal jutting out on the back of the bend.

The koolance 45s have a narrow opening in them. BP 45s are going to be better since they are much larger inside.

Great review as always. You guys are spoiling us with such great info.
Though it's a tiny bit more restrictive, I'd rather go with the bitspower Q's because of the rotary.

u guys have no idea on how to read these flow charts.

    It cracks me up.

So one brings your flow down a 1/4 of a point, not bad, definitely not bad at all. Ive been saying if you can use a BP90 to get away at a long bend its worth its merit.

But now lets add 4-5 90's. (average is 2, ive seen some systems with as much as 8, i wanted to keel over and laugh.)

WTF do you guys have now? a .25 pt flow drop EACH, which is BAD if you add more then a couple.

Would probably hit the number 8 if you used 4-5

I still say limit the 90's you use.

Dont get all Bits:banana::banana::banana::banana:ish with them.

Dont put them on the inlet or outlet of your pumps, because flow is uniform but pressure isnt.

Limit being the keyword . . . but do not avoid like the plague. Once upon a time if you had even ONE in your loop you would be lambasted . . . .

That's the Koolance 45's off my list.

    @Hondacity
Nice to see some tests, good job. Just to add some perspective, replace the bends with, say, 1m of tube.

but i have to use 90s at the pumps the bp swift ones , 45 degree could work still

should drain be after or before the pump?
i would use a quad fitting to put fillport /drain before or after a pump?

What about the swept 90degree's those were never tested!

The 45 rotaries when connected to make a 90 though dont look anywhere near as bad as the 90 does though. i would expect the 2xBP 45s to be quite abit better.

excuse the n00b question, but i'm having a hard time reading that meter. i'm assuming that metal pin in there is the indication of flow in gallons per minute right? conclusion is that one or two of these aren't bad, but more than 4 will have a hit on performance? and the BP 45's are much better than these?

The inside bore is the problem.

The Koolance 45s are particularly bad compared to others on the market.

Bought one awhile, took a look at it and just thought "oh hell no, making that have a hard-45 isn't that important." Ended up not needing it at all anyway

This further solidifies my happiness in using 4 BP 45 degrees rotaries and 1 BP 90 degree rotary in my recent rebuild.

AFAIK my flow is still fantastic (just look at my blocks, all high-flow) and I suspect the same of pressure (relatively ).

Not to say I haven't seen pictures of nasty ones... Just recently DarthBeavis or somebody posted pics of some horrible 90's.
I'd never let those anywhere near my system.

    ROFL...

dont want to sound like bragging, but i think i was the first person on this forum to wish for 45's.

Then a few months later vincent and dean both poped them.

Ahhhh... as i said, you guys are uber spoiled compared to what we had to go though.
