Bad seals on fuzion CPU block (pics)

    Hey,

My pump sprung a leak recently so I've taken everything apart to replace it and give it a good clean out while I'm at it, everything seems fine except the first seals in my fuzion block, they look almost like they melted, do you guys think it will seal up again/I can get new seals for it? Don't really want to get a new block.

Anyone seen anything similar and have any ideas what would cause it? Using 50/50 distilled water/nulon red with some algaecide added. The rest of the seals inside the block are fine.

Anyway I'm about to chuck it all back together and do some leak testing.

Note the block wasn't leaking before hand and has been running for aprox 1 year.

    Pics:

    Cheers.

Mine came like that from the factory. Just peel the excess off and you should be good to go.

If I recall correctly, some V1 Fuzions had an issue with the o-rings needing to be trimmed because of excess material. My Fuzion was not like this, but I remember reading about it here. I'm assuming this is the first time you've opened the Fuzion? If you opened it when it was brand new and the o-rings looked fine but look like the above pictures now, then I'd say you have some issues there. Otherwise, I'd say trim the excess and make sure the o-ring is continuous with no imperfections along the actual sealing area. Here's a thread I found which talks about your issue: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=180070

I think you'll be ok. Good luck!

Might wanna send those pics to DTek and see what they think. Your CPU block is definitely not where you'd want to have a problem.

Good idea, I'll shoot them off an email. About to set it up and see if I get any leaks anyway (far, far away from anything electronic!), as soon as I stop procrastinating. :P

Actually, D-Tek uses a liquid gasket material to seal the block up... that's why the gaskets, after curing, usually always have excess material which should be removed. Now, OP, your inlet washer looks similar to how mine did when I pulled my system apart (the adhesive had degraded and puckered up around the edges of the washer).

Got it set up now, no leaks so far.

Although I'm thinking I should have trimmed the crap out, but I can't really be arsed undoing it all again...

+! its a liiquid gasket. Don't take the block apart because if you break it, it will most likely have to be sent back to Dtek.

    Hey guys,

What you are seeing is RTV to help hold the pieces together during the assembly process.

This is not used on the V2 blocks due to the one peice design.

Nothing to worry about and can be gently removed off the upper gasket and the block reassebled without any problems.

Yes, you sure can. The one for the V2 will also work with the FuZion V1.

Parts for assembly are on the way now. We made a slight design change that required a little more time to complete.

Awesome! DTek is in the house! Thanks for all the info guys. I'm gonna be going with DTek blocks myself, and this is good info to know. I will be going with the V2 and GPU2+Uni for my 280. Might be able to get all the stuff somewhere in the next month or two.

I've been talking with Petra's alot. I've gotta take one step at a time. Just now am getting all the stuff for my new i7 and might have it up on air soon. After that I have to test for a bit and then will be ordering the stuff for my water loop.

I need DTek LGA1366 Pro Mount plus V2!

I know you've figured it out by now, but I also trimmed or peeled off the excess before putting the block into use.
