    Interesting things about Crucial Ballistix

Check out experience of Xtreme members:
    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...threadid=39329

And check out Anandtech's most recent memory review:
    http://www.anandtech.com/memory/showdoc.aspx?i=2145&p=9

    257 fsb 2.5-2-2-5 with 2.85 volts on i875?

Maybe OCZ guys have some comments on that, could the Micron's new 5B-G chips indeed suddenly be so good? Or just handpicked Crucial stuff?

Why - did you play around with any regular Micron sticks?

Gulp... plopped down $300 and ordered those 2 sticks... (1gb).
Now that I have both A64 and p4 rig that are decent to play with, I will see if memory does perform up to what it claims to on Anandtech... (They mentioned it being great on A64 just like on p4).

Actually I have, I have 2X512 single sided Micron PC3200 which uses the 5B Rev C chips. They are nice in terms of FSB, but mine doesn't like running at tight timings. The tightest it would go on high FSB is 3-3-3-5 @ 243Mhz w/ 2.85v (CPU limited) Also runs at 2.5-3-3-5 up to ~230 or so, 2.5-2-2-5 will be no post at most FSB settings. That's all the testings I've been doing.... I'll play with it more when I have more time. And the fact I haven't seen Ballistix out-OC OCZ EB is another interesting backup for the idea that the review sticks are cherry picked.

honestly I have heard the g-die can be awesome, but the yeild is crap. You may get some really good ones, but most won't do as well as the first post. They are not viable then as an overclockers mem, cause you will have to many varying results.

So in all they seem to be cherry picked.

Here's a quote what bigtoe said on the matter in another thread
    Guys

I have been looking at the Balistix and it does seem Wesley was sent some very cherry modules there, even the comments section on the review has people questioning whether the micron was cherry.

We have C and G, C is still better, when G is better than C we will move to it.

I have read now 5 forum threads on different forums all showing EB still doing a lot better than the balisitix....if you want proof my DFI thread at the top of this page has me doing ddr600 at 3.1v 3-2-2-0 with 3500
