Cat 6.4 is out

Just so you guys know, the 6.4 doesn't have the "Chuck" oblivion changes that allow for HDR+AA. The "Chuck" patch was made after 6.4 so we probably won't see it incorporated until the 6.5's.

But does it matter? Can't the "Chuck" patch just be applied over 6.4?

OK this update is either funky or I got a bad download. I had to uninstall 6.4 then clean my registry, then use driver cleaner. My problems started when XP hung during the "shutting down" phase after the initial install. I should have known there was more problems ahead of me. I could run 3d06 fine...even a nice bump in performance from 5800s to 5900s. But it would not run BF2. And, I would get artifacting with a black/white screen when in the XP bootup screen (which I never modified). After uninstalling 6.4 I have no more artifacting and that black/white screen during bootup. I am attempting to reinstalling a fresh download of 6.4 now.

Come to think of it I did have memset adjust my ram. This time I will leave memset alone and see what happens this time.

It will not work at all. It will no longer close the CCC services on startup and when you try to run a game all I got was artifacts. Try Cat 6.4 at your own risk...

Ok I am back to 6.3 again...all is well once again. Man what's up with Cat 6.4?? Was it release to early or something? That was the first time since I started using Cat I ever had a problem like this, ever!

I just installed them and noticed that you can no longer set 3D clocks with the Overclocker Tool.

I have install it.. no prob and sorry to say BF2 work perfect on my sys (Special forces too..) try a reinstall..

I did reinstall it (with driver cleaner along with registry mechanic), 2x already and I always reboot with a black/white screen instead of the normal XP screen bootup. Then ATI TOOL no longer works for me. I get artifacts if I use it in BF2 at the main menu screen. When I install 6.3 all is well again. BF2 plays fine. XP boots up as normal again.

lol.. don't know...i just have play with this one.. any yes i have the welcome screen do strange thing too.. with and blue line.. but it's have disappears then.. I have not try OC yet..
Are you using an OC speed for play?..

The "chuck" patch isn't actually a patch, it's modified drivers so no you can't install it over the 6.4.

If I didn't know any better its acts a filter to prevent you from using ATI Tool or overclocker. Neither of them worked for me. And during regular clocks I could not get it to work in games. Like I said, I was able to run 3d06 fine but after that everything went bonkers

Need addtion one thing, for BF2 i use this settings, 16xAF HQF, AA adaptative but in controled by appliccations,6xAA set in game..
All settings max inin games 1280x1024 75hz...

But if i have problem then with ATI tool for OC.. i go back to the beta Hotfix Chuck patch: real increase in games and 3DMark..

welcome screen was in boot of windows... but it's ok.. don't know.. do you think a temp increase?..

Something is really strange, you're right: this blue /white weird corruption when enter windows, this is normally the screen with the "welcome"... something is crap, .. perhaps just the refresh but it's weird..
I reinstall 6.3 before have more info..

I m on the Innercircle and beta tester of XG driver (warcat for ATI) plz if peoples will share prob.. do it.. we will do test on this 6.4.. but the most info we have can perhaps permit us identify the problem..

Mine turns black and white with multi colored pixels. Do me a favor hit control alt delete...go to processes. Does it flicker and change color??? Give it a minnute first...

I've just downloaded and installed the 6.4.

Didn't check in games cuzz it's 4a.m in portugal butt i have the same issue entering in windows...the messed up screen, with dots and crazy color, like 3d corruption screen...

will test them tomorrow

I have switched back to the 6.3s and everything is well now. I am sure there will be a fix for this very soon because it seems that it is a big problem right now.

tell him that it's folks with x1900xtx...not sure of the x1900xt...but the x850xt folk seems to have no problems...not sure of the x1800xt
