    Some Vapochill Cooled Kingston HyperX!!

Together with Desersthooter I modified some things to cool my ram.
Why don't use a Vapochill LS

    Specs:

    Amd Athlon X2 3800+ 0548 RPMW
    2x256 Kingston HyperX PC3000
    Epox 9NPA+ Ultra - Vdimm - Vdroop -
    OCZ Powerstream 420W
    Gainward 6600GT

On air I only reached 268 MHz on 3,8V

This is what I get on Vapochill cooled mem on 3,7V

Here are some pics of the cooling. First we tried a boxed AMD heatsink and put in on the KHX with heatspreader:

    Sorry for bad quality

    With that I reached a nice 273 MHz @ 3,7V

Then we had another idea to use some aluminium sticks. So we did
    Result:

    Aerogate could go under 0C

We have also tried Infineon BH-6. On air it goes 280 @ 3,77V
Under Vapochill it only goes 273 @ 3,79V
    Prolly coldbugged

    @ DaWaN:

I really don't know what the temp of the chips was because of there no way to read them and I don't have a thermometer.

    @ rick_fx:

    I guesse so
Maybe try it again with a bit worse contact

there's no point in using extreme cooling on BH5/UTT. They just don't get hot enough. Lol coldbug.. let's keep it at "not stable operating temperature".

xtreme though, well worth the try

no offense, but did you even read his post?

"on air, 268 at 3.8 volts.
sub zero cooled 280 at 3.7 volts."

thats more MHz, at less voltage.
looks like a improvement to me

i like the decrease in the infineon. that makes me

you wouldn't happen to have any micron around, would you? i find their chips to be the most sensitive to heat.
Got a fan over those memory sticks? No? Well get to it before you kill them

    Nice job!!

Any advise on which temps are needed to get solid ice on the sticks??
I got waterchilling, and its around -10 to -7 'cause of my lame coldbugged CPU...

Anyhow, got a chipset head + eheim 1048 I dont use, I assume it would make a neat coctail, but is -10 enough?? - Dont wanna get water all around, hehe

    Thanks,
    Marc

did you try 3.8v's or more and just didn't see better results. i'm sure heat isn't an issue with 4v's

Didn't try 3,8V. 4V isn't possible because of the max of the Powerstream is 3,86V on the 3,3V rail. And Epox is Vdimm modded and won't go really higher then 3,7V.

    The 268 @ 3,8V on air was on a Ultra-D mobo.

Gonna try it in a DFI Expert soon

All that for a 4% overclock? What'd that gain you in real-world perfromance? .5%?
