    P4 660 + Ln2

I had this P4 660 laying around for many weeks, because I had no time for testing. First the hardware I have used:
    P4 660
    Asus P5WD2 Premium
    512mb Kit Crucial Ballistix PC-5300 3264AA664
    Zippy Emacs 460w PSU
    ATI PCI graphicscard

The CPU did about 4,55ghz with boxed fan and 1,5v. Not too bad I think. On monday I got the LN2.

    My solid copper container

    Ready to start

    Let the fun beginn

    Broke the 6ghz border yesterday

At the startup I had really bad problems. The mainboard won't start when the temperature of the conatiner is colder than -110°... ok. But sometimes I doesn't boot even with very low clocks, for example 5ghz. No idea whats the problem here, because it's running stable in windows with 6ghz and more.
I really like the solid conatiner. At the beginning I need a lot of LN2 to get to a low temp, maybe one litre or more. But when it reaches -100° then small squirts of LN2 are enough to keep it at low tenperatures--> about -175° at the base when the CPU is running SuperPI with 6ghz and 1,7v. When it crashed at about 6,3ghz I had to wait more than an hour to restart again, because the temp on the conatiner rose so slowly.
I wanted to try to get higher clocks today, but the mainboard semms to be dead It does nothing when I hit the power button. Must get a new one

I hope I can push this CPU further, but I'm already looking for a P4 670

I would guess no mods yet judging by the 1.7v vcore. Nice OC I know what you mean about the wait if crashing and needing a reboot. I have been running a 670 w/ LN2 and a solid. Have you been OCing in windows? If so which bios are you using?

    Conroe...
The conroe uses 4mb's of L2, it is a SSE monster. 2 cores, extra 64 bit line. About it. Will be a great multi-tasker. But its really not that impressave.

    hey iceman nice action man
You are the only one in D/A/CH having the chance going for the 7GIG
I think when you've done all the voltmods you have a good chance to reach it or at least get near to it.
good luck, will there be an article on extremcooling about all the ln2 stuph (except the topic i've seen yesterday)?

    Thx guys
The board was unmodded, stock out of the box. It is completly dead, but I got a new one today. So more benching at the weekend.
I used the 0408 bios, I read taht it should be the best BIOS. But I didn't like that SetFSB doesn't work with this Bios. I don't like this Asus Tool

    @sof: I think you won't find a P4 660 that will do 7ghz, I must get a 670...
    Article when I have time.
