    2GB gaming goodness...

I've got a kit of Mushkin hp3200 (ch) & Ocz pc3500 GX (bh) here. Swapped out my 1gb of ocz pc4800 running 1:1 to see what all the buzz is about.

Tweaked the kits a bit & of course running 2T.

The improvement in high end games like HL2 & BF2 is just monumental!

Also for you guys wth 7800 gtxs - enable 4xAA/16xAF the go in and enable Gamma Correct Antialiasing & Transparency Antialiasing. (http://www.hardocp.com/image.html?im...dfOF8xX2wuZ2lm) BF2, HL2 dont even look like games anymore, they look like movies!! I'm just awe struck at the performance & image quality of the 7800 gtx with these features enabled. AA & AF make it look no different than my x850xt pe - but with these other features everything is more realistic. The 2gb helps in all games despite the performance loss of 2T, yea it benchmarks slower, and I've been an FPS junkie for so long but after seeing the quality, Im sold!! The images below are screenshots taken in game and at over 100 fps - even with everything on (1280x1024 using an LCD). The screenshots dont even do the ingame experience justice.

    Battlefield 2 -

Could you post some BF2 screenies too, and screenies with jsut 4aa 16af without any "Gamma Correct Antialiasing & Transparency Antialiasing" just for reference?

Nice going! I'm planning on getting myself some 2GB of RAM and a 7800GTX myself, for my X2 4400+ lying around here in a box.

so you can tell the difference between 2 and 4? it seems most ppl are still saying that 2 is overkill, though i'm finding that bf2 is killing that thought.

    LOL!

OK ok, added some additional HL2 screens a couple of BF2 screen before Fraps quit on me.

This is still 2T though folks, anyways bumped to 2-2-2-5 2T 4x512 on the memory.

With 2x512 and same timings I'm at 29 sec Super PI, I dont care about Super PI to be honest - hell I never even PLAY it!!

The 56k'rs will want to stay away from this thread lol, here are some more BMP - JPG converted of Battlefield 2. FRAPS shows 50 - 60 FPS, but it seems like performance is a bit slower with FRAPS running so I would imagine the overhead from FRAPS is dropping performance a bit. Enjoy!! Check those trees out!!

Is it harder to cool the 4x of ram being that they are all grouped so close?

in k8n neo2 if you want to run dual channel you should stick them close so nothing changes

Here is another bonus from using 2T, the OCZ stuff could never run 253 MHz @ 2-2-2-5, however using 2T this isn't a problem. So the performance I lose going from 1T to 2T is probably offset moving from 2-3-2-5 to 2-2-2-5.

Hrmm I wonder if 2T will let me OC the cpu further too...

Are you just using a normal 80mm fan to cool all this or what? I'm thinking about moving to 2GB.

gawd....when i start considering upgrading to 1gb everyone else here goes on to 2048!

ahh well...probably not going to need a gig playing at 1024 res and under with a 6600GT...

I'm using the Enermax Maxflow CS-718b Case with it's sudo BTX layout, there is a front 120 MM fan that is intaking air, I modded the wind tunnel to direct the air to the memory and CPU. Nothing fancy, I'm just always trying to come up with ways to maximize the little noise I like my case to generate. I have a TT Armor here to review that I have to move into, I'll shuffle the 120mm front fan so that the airflow will be very similar to this with intake and exhaust blowing threw the memory to the CPU and out the back. Keeping the airflow in and out keeps everything running cooler than a standard ATX case. I would imagine just keeping the air moving over the DIMMS is really what is important.

EDIT: These pics still only had 2 x 512 MB installed, but its just to show the layout.

So your running 2 muskins and 2 oz?

I'm looking into 2 gigs as Bf2 Needs more than 1 gig that I have now.. Looked at either 1 gig sticks or 4 512's. Looks like the 4 512's would give better timings? plus more room to overclock.

yea, 2 x 512 Mushkin HP3200 (Winbond CH) and 2 x 512 OCZ PC3500 GX (Winbond BH), using 2T and 2-2-2-5 @ 3.1v at 255Mhz now, that was my memtest shot up above at 253

    I'm now priming / memtesting 312 x 9 (2.808) 1.64v CPU with memory at 255 2-2-2-5 2T. So far so good!

Anyone know why memtest only shows 1 GB of memory, I'll have to test it later with Memtest 3.1 from their site... I'm thinking the 704 bios with memtest 1.6 would prolly fix it???

priming it now while I leave for work...

cmon , you know DDR510 2-2-2-5 2T isn't going to be all that impressive in Sandra but I will do it when I get home. I had PC4800 running 1:1 @ 312 before getting 7.8 GB/sec with venice chip (same settings with winchester was over 8 GB/sec) - I'd estimate right now to get about 6.3GB/sec with DDR510 and 2T...but it's not about the Sandra it's about the way the games play....

I still get 94,700 in AM3 despite the lower Sandra bandwidth...
