Soon SLI in 32x at Asus

    A8N32-SLI Premium

Could know in a structure chart from then on, A8N32-SLI Premuim chip structure adopts the north bridge C51D south bridge Nforce4 SLI chip to reach the condition of 32 channels, expand the slot and support two PCI Express16Xs, a PCI Express4X, three PCIs

Asus is a great stable board for people who won't tweak their systems. I've built tons of computers for people with asus boards, so I have no complaints with asus.

I'd even throw in that some minor tweaking is okay too. Like anything else, you get some good ones and you get some not-so-good ones. Asus for the most part is a top notch mobo on the whole. Its just not for xtreme tweaking.

now that i´ve been waiting month for the premium to be released i have to wait even longer.

btw. can i use the 4x slot when i stick two vid cards? there are only 32 lanes.

also , i`ve always been wondering if i can use a 2x, 4x or 8x card in the second 16x slot (when tey arrive).

i remember the article, but how does it work? do you have to configure this in wÃ:banana:ndows? i don`t remember having access to these settings in the bios.

There is a measurable difference between a 16x PCI-E card using 8 or 16 lanes.

Yes, it's small, but it's measurable.

So, the performance is NOT equal (exactly) between 8-lane and 16-lane slots.

Less so with SLI 8x and SLI 16x.

Look for actual benchmarks at Tom's.

16 on the C51D (according to the pic) + 20 on the NF4 = 36 lanes, so there will be 4 left over for the 4x slot. Though at 1GHz HT clock, there will not be enough bandwidth in theory for all 32 lane to be active at once talking to the CPU (which will probably never happen anyway, and not be a problem if you overclock).
