4600X2 on a Vapo-question about it

How high of an overclock do you guys think could be
achieved with a 4600X2 using a VapoLS, DFI mobo and Gskill PC4400 memory?

i'd say from stock frequency upwards. no one can tell you how they will clock yet because there are hardly any results. the only results we have are the cherry picked samples and a few people that havent really phase change cooled their chips yet.

Raising FSB just by 1 Mhz would realize in a 12 Mhz CPU overclock. If you get a good one you might even end up getting 24 Mhz or 36 Mhz OC.

Yup, this is what I am wondering about. Where is the limit for Vapochill LS in terms of a heat load of over 200W. I mean how does it behave in comparison with watercooling?

Ok they say they can handle 200W of heat also a mach2 gt is supposed to handle that but I know for a fact even with the fans on turbo it will shut down unless you retune it or regass it I have not tested exactly what the maximum heatload is but sure as s#@t it aint 200W

I'm currently sitting here with a 4400 X2, that's about the limit of it's stability in 8MB Superpi, you might get further with a bit of luck and a 4600.

Edit:- Vapo LS with evaporator head at -30C which according to Asestek's website equates to about 120W of heat load. I'm not sure how accurate a figure that is though.

The dual core X2's are harder to overclock than a single core since you are limited to whatever the weakest core will do. Also because of the extra core you have more of a heatload on the Vapo. You will be lucky to get 3000mhz or more and keep it stable.

I had two 4400+; same stepping. One did 2.6GHz on air at 1.52V, and no more. I'm testing the other one right now, and it's doing 2.7GHz on air at 1.49V at the moment. I might be able to lower the voltage some more on the second one, but regardless 2.7GHz seems to be its limit on air.

I will need to bust out the water block to see if it does 2.8GHz on light water, but I'm guessing with a Vapo it would do about 3.0GHz max.

Overclocking dual cores is a little tougher in regards to both clock speed, voltage, HTT speed, RAM speed/timings, etc. The two cores are likely different in regards to how they each interact with all those elements, and that can mean you'll be testing a lot of different settings before finding the max stable overclock.
