    New cascade project

Ok, im starting a new cascade, this one will use all the tricks and magic i can come up with to make it perform at its best and hopefully be THE one to follow...

First of all the best evap there is needs to be used for such a project, a chilly1 evaporator. Unfourtenetly i will be using a copy of it, still its exacly the same as the original exeptfor the machinig quality.

This is a older revision is his evaporator, w/o the steel ring thats why i had to drill 5 holes in it, 4 holes are for mounting and the 5th is for the temp. probe drilled all the way near the core of the evaporator.

A supply tube has been drilled too, a CPEV will be used in this project. But it will not be mounted the standart way you guys do.

Now i have to sand blast the internals of the evaporator to increase the surface area and roughness for more capacity.

Brazed the evaporator assembly. This will be a MEAN machine

    Setting up propane flow.

    Heating up the evaporator.

    BURN BABY BURN

    Heating her up, brazing...

burn hell and FIRE ! actually its a kind of irony... its meant to work @ -1xx C temps but its origin is in fire...

    The T splitter...

    A CPEV

    The assmebly ready:

Looks weak now but it neds some finetuning, polishing and of course INSULATION! There's going to be a LOT of it, probably 5cm thick on each side. This baby is meant for temps only chilly1 probably saw.

I hope someone has enough sense to remove those pics of purging with propane, actually all threads mentioning useing it for purging should be removed. that is just plain stupid. bad enough you have to worry about controlling the torch flame, but to dodge fireballs is the most un-professioinal thing Ive seen. Some one going to get hurt !!! if you want to do it fine but don't post it!!! thats MY OPINION. fireballs? propane is dangerous if released and not burned inmediately. if you burn it as fast as you release it theres no danger of fireballs.

understanding stuff is the best way to avoid accidents, not fear.

I wouldn't want to be leaning over that evap when the wind changes direction, unless your god and can control the wind too.And yes ,understanding stuff is the best way to prevent accidents, that why pro's don't use propane. Work safe!!! Walt

I dont think its dangerous in the hands of someone skilled. And propane is a great oxide reducing agent i really needed.

Nitrogen is not cheap At least here, and the place where you buy it is 30km away from my house and i still havent recived my driving license

Im about to start building my compressor assembly for the final stage. this will take a while....

    Damn stop overreacting

Purging with propane is not dangerous because there is NO oxygen and very effective agains oxidation.

"that's why pro's are using nitrogen"
No, pro's HAVE nitrogen, that's the reason. Not because propane isn't safe.

Nitrogen is not cheap if you have to buy the bottle and regulator !!! That's off for most of us.

By lighting the propane flame, the room doesn't fill with propane. Using a manifold and captube allows you to regulate the flow so the flame isn't that large.

And plz stop pushing ppl to follow your opinion by saying that he is not thinking it thourgh.

cheap? price of bottle+gas+regulator is enormous over here! lots of us are just students and don't have a regular job to afford fancy stuff. buying nitrogen is a 2 month salary for me

Nitrogenen costs practically nothing. Botle costs 300€+ the regulator.

If you tune the purging flame so that it's about the size of a cigarrettelighter flame youl have hard time burning yourself with that

Back on the topic: Nice brazing job I just dont understand why you mount that valve so close to the evap, but youll know what youre doing. To me its just pretty damn inconveniant.
    cool cool cool!
