Project: Uriel "The Fire of God"

I'll keep this one short and simple. This is the build I did for Sapphire's pure black board from CES, hence the markings. I have a few pictures of the parts and process if people are interested--but here are the final shots:

The system is hand made, with a few of the obvious accents being done on the laser (all engravings, the 6970 subtract, and the "Uriel" font on the heatsink.) I am hesitant to post the worklog because of the massive amount of sanding and polishing, but if you ask for it...=P

BTW the quality of the pictures is quite degraded from Image Shack's resizing. If someone cares for the high res I can always send them to you.

    That protruding Mobo is HAWT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am in love with the Open/Closed type system.

Could we get some detail pics as well as construction ones? One I really want to see is the Back IO ports. I'm curious as to how you would attach anything down there xD

I can't really see what is in the stand, but I'm going to assume it's disc drives and a fan or two. Which would mean the PSU is in the GPU box? How well does she sit? I'd imagine the top heavy nature would lend itself to some interesting situations at a busy convention/show like CES.

I would love a set of Hi-res shots of Uriel if you have them.

    edit
wait, I just saw a glimps of the PSU in the stand, so why such a large GPU enclosure?

Looks unconventional... Very sleek and stylish. MDPC material. Loving it, amazing job!

I don't think you could give any higher compliments as you have confirmed everything I wanted to achieve: confusion.

I wanted people to look at it and not understand what they were looking at. So much <3 to you, Anachlores. =)

I will get some more pictures in this thread soon, but as for the top heavy looks, that was a secondary goal of mine. The system looks extremely off balance, but a couple prototypes were made to ensure the balance was rock-solid. Uriel will not tip over no matter how much pressure is exerted on either end because of the system's unique center of gravity residing one inch to the L frame (which you can see in the first and last pictures). However, it certainly appears like it will topple over =O

I suppose from my awkward pictures the GPU box looks overly large for its task, but it is not much wider than the cards it houses. In a couple days when I get my head together I will post some pics of the assembly and the magic will all be gone. =P

Thank you all for your wonderful comments. I am humbled.

I'd rather call this mod not "the fire of god" but "Tron" . Anyway, congrats with wonderful results.

Wow, just wow!!!!!!!! Amazing craftsmanship, and yes we all are confused I guess as such, though we all can make guesses how its all working, like in the IO plate seems to be at the bottom but what creativity man. The more I am looking at the pics, the more I am in love with the mod.

Yup. The cables from the GPUs and the I/O ports go through those little arches and wrap around to the bottom of the case--so no ugly cables dangling out anywhere.
