    Xien16 "Pink Project"

    Now also in english...

After my Gaming PC, HTPC (now the Office PC) and the HTPC II (ITX-Atom-System for music and movies) I am now building system No.4 -> Gaming PC for LAN Parties - codname: "Pink Project"

The hardware, the case and some details are just bought and finished. What I need now is a lot of time to build the system.
The plans I made one evening some months ago helped me a lot to see how I can solve some problems but I changed a lot til now...

    Now the hardware...
Not every decision was so easy like the one with the motherboard
Because I still had three unused AW9D-MAX at home and one E6300 and Q6600 I took one of the motherboards and the Q6600.
The RAM: 2 x 2GB DDR2-1066 Geil Black Dragon (like the DDR2-800 in the HTPC II).
    The HDD: Western Digital 500GB
The PSU: SilverStone Strider SST-ST70F (same like in the Gaming PC).

The decision with the graphic card was a little bit harder.
The ATI 5770 would have been the perfect card for this system but it is extremely incompatible with other coolers and the original fan is extremely loud.
Because the cooler on the ATI 5850 isn't better at all I choose again the good old ATI 4870.

System number 11-99-22 the first really good number

I wanted to wait for a "Air Cooling Worklogs"-folder but I think that could take some time

OK now let's go on with some pics of the new GPU cooler:

The distance between the lamellas was exactly the same

I have no use for the original fans... (don't look good and they are too loud)

Looks really good without the original Fans:

Very nice to see air cooled work logs

What model Lian Li case is that? It looks very beautiful with it's simple yet sleek lines. I'm very interested to see how you incorporate the pink theme into you project.

As to a Air Cooled Work Logs sub section I dunno if we'll see one anytime soon

    Thanks guys...

    The Case is the PC-8NB

The model for the GPU-case out of paperboard was quiet good so that I built it out of mesh:

It fits really good to tne GPU:

Then I sanded the soldered edges and sandblasted the hole thing:

What two fans are you mounting onto the GPU cooler? (or are those 2 holes for other things?)
And how are you mounting them?

The holes are for my special version of the Scythe 100:

And I really don't know how to mount them exactly (with copper wire or a normal string.)
I mounted two of the normal 100mm Fans to my last 4870 but there I had no exact position where the fan have to be like here...

But I think I can handle this problem

Lookes like this now after painting it:

So very awesome, Xien! It's been quite a while since I was this interested in an air-cooled rig.

Your mesh bending skills is something to behold.
    You have my full attention...

Now just for you - the translated Mesh bending tutorial:

Today I will show you how to bend and solder mesh out of steel:

The mesh was cut out like the model out of paperboard:

After T bent the first wing I started taking photos to show you the steps
First you have to fix the mesh between two squared timbers (has to be hardwood like beech or cherrywood) and adjust the bending line:

If you have adjusted the mesh perfect and fixed it very hard you can begin to bend it careful by hand:

Now you can bend the last bit with wood and a hammer.
But be careful and do it slowly:

Now you can to investigate the angle:

Fix the mesh with some solderpoints. (400-450°C, min. 3mm head)
Of cause You have to rub away the paint of the mesh if it is painted

After that you can finish the soldering:

I tried to bend this around a spraycan but I managet it much better by hand:

    Now the last small wing:

    And now it is ready:

After bending and soldering you have to rub the edges, sandblast and paint it
