    G.Skill Perfect Storm DDR3-2133, F3-17066CL9T-6GBPS

    Hi all!

I am not memory addict, but i decided to do this type of memory testing thread as well

I got this kit from G.Skill few months a go and I have used it in all my pretesting phases and in more serious test. Kit is still in very good shape and no issues so far.

First some pics of memory sticks. I like them a lot.

I have to admit, that I have had some issues with this particular kit. I first tested :7-8-7 / 8-8-8 / 8-9-8 / 9-9-9 etc.. I was wondering that what is going on, cause this memory just does not like to overclock. I then decided to try different combinations and realized that I have to use tRCD - Row Address to Column Address Delay one step higher than in my other kits and then everything is going perfectly fine.

    Test setup:

Single stage cooled @ -42C° (Designed for VGA's, not for this use )
    Intel Core i7 950
    EVGA Classified 760
    Thermaltake TP 1200W x 2
    4x ATI Radeon 4890
    G.Skill Perfect Storm F3-17066CL9T-6GBPS (355€ in Finland)
    Windows Vista 32-bit

    Then some screenshots:

    First some P55 action -DDR3 2500 9-10-9-24-1T (1.8V) (Dual channel 4GB)

    Core i7 triple channel tests:

This memory does not like tight timings too much

    6-7-6-18-1T / DDR3 1700+

    7-8-7-22-1T / DDR3 2000

    7-9-7-22-1T / DDR3 2135

    8-9-8-22-1T / DDR3 2200

    8-10-8-24-1T / DDR3 2400

    3DMark05 8-10-8-24- 1T / DDR3 2400

Max speed on single stage. Would have done this at 8-10-8 as well, but uncore was getting too high:

This kit is perfect for any type of use. It can handle some nice overclocks and it is stable and strong in normal 24/7 use as well. These chips can handle voltage, so sudden death should not be the issue with these.
I can sincerely recommend these to everyone. Only negative thing is the price at the moment, but if some chips are binned, they will not be free.

    Thank you G.Skill and Frank!

    Thanks for checking this thread

Thomas- rysty is referring my text in his post. I did have some issues and had to use that tRCD + 2 thing to get this working fine.

rusty- 1866 7-7-7 should not be any kind of problem. I havent tested that low frequencys, but I might have to give a shot for that.

Awesome memory, but I have question, which ram is better:
    6144MB G.Skill PC3-17066 CL9 Perfect Storm -
    http://www.kmelektronik.de/shop/inde...fo&ArtNr=22887
    or 6144MB G.Skill PC3-16000 CL8 Perfect Storm - http://www.kmelektronik.de/shop/inde...fo&ArtNr=22886
first one does higher MHz and second likes small CL.
    So which is better?

    Sorry about my bad english.
    Good review SF3D.

    First post is updated.

Now there is some quick 6-7-6 and 7-8-7 runs included.

Voltages in tests are around 1.8-1.86V range. I did not gain anything when I used more than 1.84V.

I have no plans to cool these with LN2, but I might try my waterchiller for them. Chiller can take fluid down to -34C°

I need to find some watercooler for ram sticks. Any suggestions?

    Fatal Error,

Should have no problems at all. Just make sure you have the latest BIOS for your motherboard. You can also download it from the Official G.Skill Forum, the BIOS listed there is what we used.

    Thank you
