4890 water block installed on 5870

Hi guys I tried my heatkiller water block on my 5870 and at first everything lined up except 2 screw holes on outside of card. I decided to give it another try and I managed to get one of the outside screws in. The bottom card is running at 18c at idle.I am about to install block on top card.

The thread title is a little misleading - this isn't a 5870 FC block installed, this is a HK-4870/90 block installed on a 5870 card.

Can we have some closeups of the misaligned screws?

Peak temps would be nice too. I hope the screw didn't get cross threaded.

4890 water block installed on 5870

I just installed the heatkiller 4890 water block on my 2 5870,s. I didnt mean to mislead anyway in last post by the title. This block is from a 4890 and the 4 holes around gpu line up fine. Take a look for yourself and tell me what you think.

Nice job, looking forward to this data (when you run @ load, can you have four gpu-z windows showing all sensors on both cards?)

Now that makes you think what else apart from the GPU core is not in contact with the block...

Those are some pretty massive disparities between the first and second card. Temps, clocks, power-draw - is Crossfire enabled?

There where disparities on air and yes xfire is enabled. I am ordering some heat sinks for that area that,s not covered. Everybodys a critic.

He's just asking because your second gpuz is showing idle clocks of 157/300 while your first card is in 3d. And, 34C / 22C implies your only running 1 card in 3d. Try different Cat AI settings.

Hey, I'm not criticising anything - but if I was you, I'd be very concerned about my second 5870 running at a core clock of 157MHz and a mem clock of 300MHz, when the first is running at 890/1225. Either GPU-Z is reading wrong, which is unlikely given that it's picking the first card up just fine, or the second card is stuck in 2D mode.

sorry about critic remark,if its stuck in 2d does that mean cards is bad or maybe just the driver?

ATI drivers disable the second card when the game is not using cfx? also i have seen that occur in various situations. Try a benchmark program instead furmark for example. but i would get some cooling on those chips uncooled before you get to the benches.

Yeah i'd take care of cooling it. Watch out for it @ OP, might kill the card
