Will a GIGABYTE GA-MA770T-UD3P AM3 unlock the Phenom II 550?

It has the 710 SB and ACC in the BIOS.
Checked manufacture site and it did not list the 550 as supported so I emailed them that question.
But someone reviewed the the 550 on the 770 MB OC'ed to 3.8 at Newegg but didn't mention trying to unlock it.

I don't think it will as I am fairly sure you have to have ACC to unlock and I don't believe SB710 has it, only SB750.

I downloaded the Manual and it has ACC in the BIOS.

yes it sshould. the latest bios has hybrid mode, which allows unlocking.

my 550 wouldnt boot when "unlocked" but i have no way of knowing if that's the mobo's fault or if its just an unlucky chip

So you have that 770 MB and tried to unlock the 550 with it?
Which BIOS version was that?

You may need to wait for a more stable Bios,,
I think your Chip might not the Problem..


Example,,
Flashed my UD4P back to the First Bios F2a i cant unlock .
Then the F4 is kinda unstable,,
F5a is flawless at unlocking .

In this case, when enabling ACC in hybrid mode, apon exiting, it sits not posting for maybe 5seconds, then shuts down completely.. not your usual failed post in other words, where it would just sit repeating a reset.

One of mine does exactly the same thing, screen goes dead after about 5sec after I exit the cmos & enabling ACC hybrid. I gave up on that one after trying all bios's on it.

I believe this is cpu related issue not bios. As others processors boot fine using the same method.

You may be right,, i dont give in ,i get even, @ least with CPU's lol.


Have you tried different Ram to see if it affects the CPU that Dosnt boot when enabled.

try Higher NBvid to see if that helps.

try raising Chipset volts to 1.28v

try auto ram timing .

Try setting Defaults and then reset all your voltages and try with +2/+4 ACC.

I could go on,, theres a lot to try.


It could be his chip but , theres a lot one can do before he/she calls it the quits.

I have a GA-MA790X-UD4 mobo with SB750 and the same thing happenes when i try to unlock my X2 550 BE. BIOS restart, try to POST and hang .

My cpu is bad. I tru them on another Biostar mobo and same happening.

I have the Gigabyte board 770X + SB710.

Couldn't unlock my X3 720BE (batch 0904) at all with ACC auto. When I updated the bios to F2c there was another feature with ACC that allow me to run it at hybrid mode (no clue what it is).

But I recall another person from hard-forum ran hybrid and had success. So I ran hybrid mode + auto on ACC and as simple as that.... the 4th core came out!

Bump the CPU volts to 1.4V and could OC to 3.8GHz easily stable. I see other people running a bit more than 1.5V to get to 4.0GHz.

But yea, update the bios on the Gigabyte 770X board. It seems the hybrid mode is a key factor for Gigabyte boards.

With the original bios CPU-Z would report my south bridge as SB700. Now with the latest bios it reports as SB750. Well no biggie... it works .

Also my CPU code name is "Heka" . I thought Heka was suppose to be for the X3 705e CPUs. Another member on hardforum has the same thing too. But pretty much everyone else is still Deneb.

Spent a couple days trying to find someone that successfully unlocked with this MB and had no luck,so I gave up on it and bought a GA-MA790X-UD4P. I thought it would but wanted confirmation before purchase.Had the 550 BE ordered and didn't want to wait any longer.Thanks for the responses,maybe I'll use it on another build.

I can confirm that the board does indeed unlock the 550 BE. I know it's late, but I figured others should know. This is with F2c bios. Great little board BTW.

BIOS:F2C, hybrid ACC, others are default settings
looks nice good price performance to be 4 cores
im starting to burn-in and looks kind of stable.

I'm still running 2 cores right now and will soon purchase a new heatsink before I test this thing at 4, but will I need heatsinks for the mosfets before toying with this thing anymore? Also been playing around with memory adjustments. I purchased some Gskill 1600 DDR3 (9,9,9,24 and shown as supported in the board's memory list) and my system would crash. I noticed the voltage on the box said 1.5~1.6 so I manually set the voltage up from 1.5 and at about 1.56 I think it's stable. Been running Prime95 Blend now for about 3 hours and no errors now. Going to run Memtest86 afterwards and then play some Crysis afterwards to see how stable it is.

I just joined this site a few days ago because of all the information available, and thought id toss up my results with my unlock.
I was able to unlock a AMD Phenom II 550BE X2 to a X4 B50 3.1Ghz with the F2C bios on the Gigabyte MA770T-UD3P motherboard, with 4GB (2x2) Gskill DDR3 1600. Didnt worry bout the memory yet, but set the bios to ACC settings to Hybrid and Auto. My chip is coded 0922CPMW, not sure if that what everyone wants to know off the chip. I wrote down all the writing on the chip before I put it in. It sits at around 34c with stock cooler & AS-5 with it unlocked. I havent tried the overclocking aspect on a stock cooler, waitin on my waterblock to come before I push it. Also gonna try to find some compatible mosfet coolers, a NB cooler, and SB cooler.

Are those temps in the picture at idle because mine get hot like that too. And as far as the memory us concerned, I have that same gskill 1600 and it is unstable with F2c. Once I flashed to "F2" it suddenly worked at after "overclocking" to the spd settings. Should work then. Have fun with your new toy. It's pretty awesome.

Also what PSU are you running ,, the _12volt is way low for Minus -12v reads -7v?

It should be around -11.5 to -12v shouldnt it.



Id say you must have a 500watt or 550watt PSU and its pulling lot a draw to run sytem. Maybe its just a Bios or sensor glitch.

Yeah the temps in the screenshot are from when I was assembling it and running prime95 on it. I live in arizona and by chance on that day it was 108 outside lol. Not exactly an awesome way test run things. Inside it runs much much cooler. As to the 2nd part on the power supply voltage issues, yes the ps was a 550watt ps that was just used to test the system. Im about to order a new ps specifically because the draw of power is substantial. So in your guess you were pretty dead on. It runs stable and ive played a few games on it but im just worried that without ample power issues will occur, even a dead mobo or cpu in the end. So at the moment its just sittin on the sidelines. The memory has to be put in manually to the factory settings that are displayed online for compatability. I took the one guys advice and did the 1.56v on mem and it does produce 1600. I didnt benchmark it cause again, the under powered power supply makes me worried. I will post more results when I get my waterblock in, and when I get the new power supply. Hopin for good results.

Does anyone get BSOD when unlocking the cores with F2C? Literally after leaving the bios, i'll BSOD and the pc will restart. I though the computer would at least boot to windows even if unstable. anyone fix this problem if they had it?

I got BSODs when using F2c and overclocking my memory to 1600MHz. Try using F2. It fixed all my problems.

thanks, ill try that in a bit. i was reluctant at first, because i thought they entirely took ACC out, and the fact that i don't like updating bios.
