    Phenom II X3 working as a Quad-core

Numerous users of Phenom II X3 (Heka) reported that they could enable the disabled core by just setting ACC to 'Per core' or 'Auto'mode in Bios.

Everyone who could enable the core was using a 790GX chipset motherboard with SB750 southbridge - most being Biostar TA790GX 128M, and a CPU manufactured in week 0904.

Can anyone here try this and tell me the result?

Now that would be really funny!
Maybe they should call it X3 710 GTO2....

    I am interested
Since the CPU dealer with my 7750BE allows me to trade-in "old" model and add $$$$ for newer product
Maybe I should get my hands on one and see

Seems like it only works on 790GX + SB750 Motherboards and 0904 CPU.

I don't have the CPU, still waiting for more info...

Some CPUs runs perfectly at around ~3.5G, some at stock, while ~20% being unstable at stock clock speed, I guess.

Here's the test result of 8 CPUs. 6 of them could be transformed into a quadcore.

Just hours ago, we found that the Koreans tested the Phenom II X3 710 can be hacked into a quad core by enabling the ACC in BIOS.

Likewise, the Tri Core X3 720 Black edition can be enabled the same way. Here is our article to prove that it works.

that sounds very interesting...now only figure out how to manage it on DFI or Foxconn Mobo
Foxconn won't boot with ACC auto on PII, DFI not tested in deep yet.

I may have to pick one up to try it in my AsRock board, It has working ACC.

ACC was such a mystical thing already, now this makes it even more so!! Does anyone understand WTH ACC is doing?
Particle's First Rule of Online Technical Discussion:
As a thread about any computer related subject has its length approach infinity, the likelihood and inevitability of a poorly constructed AMD vs. Intel fight also exponentially increases.

    Rule 1A:
Likewise, the frequency of a car pseudoanalogy to explain a technical concept increases with thread length. This will make many people chuckle, as computer people are rarely knowledgeable about vehicular mechanics.

    Rule 2:
When confronted with a post that is contrary to what a poster likes, believes, or most often wants to be correct, the poster will pick out only minor details that are largely irrelevant in an attempt to shut out the conflicting idea. The core of the post will be left alone since it isn't easy to contradict what the person is actually saying.

    Rule 2A:
When a poster cannot properly refute a post they do not like (as described above), the poster will most likely invent fictitious counter-points and/or begin to attack the other's credibility in feeble ways that are dramatic but irrelevant. Do not underestimate this tactic, as in the online world this will sway many observers. Do not forget: Correctness is decided only by what is said last, the most loudly, or with greatest repetition.

Remember: When debating online, everyone else is ALWAYS wrong if they do not agree with you!

I have the right stepping and the same chipset they recommend for this:

    Phenom II X3 720 BE (CACZC), and a Asus M3A78-T (780GX / SB750).

I tried setting the ACC mode to Auto / Per Core and All Cores... interestingly, on per core, it shows cores 0,1,2,3 (4 cores total) to do ACC on, but on either of these settings, when I rebooted, it still said Phenom II X3 720, no 4th core upon booting into windows.

    Either:

1.) This is an elaborate hoax, anyone using a good ********* can spoof CPU-Z validations, or...
2.) The 4th core is only good in a very few of these..

It's supposed to still say Phenom II X3 720. You check CPUZ to see how many cores are active.

So far only ASRock and Biostar 790 + 750SB mobos have been confirmed. So far people with Asus boards have shown negative results.

Oh and in that video the guy's processor turned into 20 (instead of 720)

    I can confirm ASUS M3A79-T

but X3 720BE 0849 isn't stable when unlocked... so we need more confirmations on 0904!
