    Phenom II 920 goodness thread

Well...after realizing I was problay crapping all over the "official" Phenom II OC thread I started my own so I can post up on what seems to be a pretty good chip. I'm sure the 940 is going to be great but having this 920 for just a few hours now I can say its performance easily surpasses the 9950 that I have. Running smoothly at 3.22GHz on default vcore is nice.

I will start filling some more benches later. Just passed a nice 3d06 at 18k, This is about 500 points less than my 9950 ran with crossfireX at 3.5Ghz(4870x2+4870). This is a single card run(4870x2). It "feels" faster...

Do you really think that this results are amazing? The oc potential of deneb core is much higher, try to reach 3.5GHz and more .

Not amazing...impressive...two different things. For just having the chip for a few hours I can say that this compares well to what ive seen from the 940. Some are running 1.45v+ to reach near 3.7ghz. I have a feeling that is within this chips reach. Im sure if my MB can reach close to 300 HT multi then it will be amazing.

I guess whats really doing it for me is the fact that I still have Prime running and Im able to still use the computer as if nothing was going on. Over 1 hour now, my 9950 would be having fits.

i think that that looks awesome considering that its a locked multi chip, i may have to go p2 when the full am3 ddr3 chips are out

I think the OP is referring to temps at those clocks and voltage needed(stock). It's a nice score for a locked chip, gaining over 400Mhz on stock vcore and staying very cool is pretty impressive. No doubt phenom II 920s will go a lot higher(think 3.6-3.8Ghz on good air cooling),but for a fist "quickie" run ,this is a very good result! Compared to 9950 it uses around 2x less power and is substantially cooler at the stock and OCed frequency while running around 10%(average) faster per clock than Agena.

i dont see the point of the 920 for acing the 940 black should retail for $75-100 more ($300-330 or so or less) and it looks like it will be worth every penny

if u can oc like that then use a higher multi it would be 2x amazeing

Actually, 4.0 is doable on water regardless of chip I think. :P

ok..4.0 it is.. :P I need to sleep though..been fun for now...leave you with 3dmark 06 at 3.5ghz. Needed to add alittle vcore though. Crashed the first time at default...added .5v to vcore and .2v to memory and got this. Have alot of tweaking to do. I havent messed with memory timings or anything at this point. 20k+ should be a snap. On a side note..ORB isnt letting me make these public...imagine that.

    gnight all.

nice that would also be possible on decent air, we already see in europe some 200eur range for this 920, will replace my 9850be real soon.... just a few more days.

I'm pretty sure the 920 model will be at least @ 3.7-8 Ghz for 24/7 with good voltages(<1.5v). The 940 will be around 4 easily....

What ram you using, You should be able to tighten the timings a lil, and I believe you can extrack a better score then that aswell

Edit, I was going to say get that NB up and well You post fast lol...nice job

Nice work ziffers but I think you've still got more room left for core clocking.

Why didn't you keep the hypertransport matching the nb?
From what I've seen so far it shouldn't stop clocking on air or water just Dice and such cold things.

Looks like at 3.6Ghz is almost able to catch up with the Q6600 @ 3.2Ghz, good one for AMD

    Sigh... http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...&postcount=269

Clearly the Q6600@3,2GHz is not beating the Phenom II@3,6GHz when the Phenom II is equal or better than Kentsfield both at 3,7GHz.

I'm assuming he meant in super pi.

What type is the G. Skill if it's pi black you should be able to get pretty tight timings.

Good to see nice clocks from PhII 920!
It looks like 2.5-2.7GHz NB will be a common thing with these.

    Am I right that you're running Vista x64 zif33rs?
