This would be worth stepping up to for $33. Mine doesn't oc worth a damn.

How long is the wait time for a step-up?

$399.99 is the cost to step up to a 280 minus the cost of your card, shesh. I guess the gtx285 is out of the question then.

just $10 difference between normal and superclocked... any reason not to go straight to superclocked?

i'll wait for some results before deciding. my card runs fine @ 700/1500/1250 so far haven't tried much higher, dont really have a reason to do it. i think this 55nm will be easier to make heatsinks for too since the ram is all on one side...maybe something excellent will be made for it.

That price is'nt too bad at all and makes me quite tempted. I definately thought that they would hike the price up a little mroe than what they are now :

    DamienKC,

Mine does 653/1484/1250 I believe. It would be worth it to me fore $33, but I'm not sure about you, unless heat/power consumption is an issue, especially if the new card does not OC as high.

Can you upgrade from a vanilla to a superclocked? As m0da said, is it worth the extra $10?

    you can.. i think?..

but if your upgrading from a SSC or factory OC version, you have to pay extra again for the factory overclocking.

eVGA step-up program is generally for vanilla versions.

    From eVGA's site:

What products will EVGA make available to the Step-Up Program?

    * EVGA will only release EGS (EVGA Genuine Spec) versions of its products, NVIDIA reference spec and clock, to the step-up program.
    * Products that have been pre-configured with higher clock speeds will be released based on yield rates and in limited quantities and on a first come first ship bases.
    * Products known to have limited availability will not be made available to the Step-Up Program. (Limited availability determined by EVGA production.)
    Gaming/Rendering rig:
    eVGA X58 Tri-SLI
    Intel i7-970 w/ Corsair H100
    24gigs Corsair 2000s
    eVGA GTX580 3GB
    Too many HDD's
    LG Blu-ray player
    Corsair hx1050 psu
    Corsair 800D case

Yeah you can only Step-Up to the stock model unfortunately. You might wanna wait a few weeks though, so NVIDIA can fine-tune its production of 55nm G200-103-B2 (GTX 260) chips and possibly leave you with a better binned card that has better overclocking potential? I don't know if this is true, but it's worth a shot.

Besides, NVIDIA is still trying to capitalize on the 65nm fabrication on all those consumers who don't care or know the difference. That can only mean that 55nm production will get better over time.

Expect core clock speeds to reach around ~800MHz.

P.S. The B3 revision is the final revision for the GT206 chips.

    These are still B2s.

I'm definitely going to wait for B3. Like most people, I have 70+ days to upgrade, so its worth the wait if it OC's better.
