Cuplex DI Internal Pics 56K warning!

Well i couldnt resist. Those that know me know i like blingy blocks. :T

Dont know if anyone posted internal pics of one opened up. I did a search came up with nothing. So here ya guys go.

    The block:

    Wings Off, Bolts Off:

    Everything laid out minus Bolts:

    The main Block Parts:

    Center Piece Top:

    Center Piece Bottom:

    Base Close up Top:

    Base Close up Angle:

Sorry wont have thermals on it. I already offered it on loan to martin, but he refused.

Some notes, the block is not bowed at all. The base is flat.

Nikh if your reading this, whats your thoughts on getting the base stepped to match the center pin matrix?

I thought you were buying the single impact version, anyhow, I still have Niksub1's double impact block and already tested. It performed about on par with the Fuzion V1 on my lapped E6600, but the XSPC Edge and Fuzion V2 outpaced it on the E6600. Maybe I had a subpar V1, but the V2 outperformed the DI regardless.

I'll put it on the quad core as soon as I straighten out my motherboard woes, darn 680i TR revision turns out to be "Not Fully" quad supported according to EVGA. I guess I missed that in the fine print when I bought the board, maybe ASUS means "Fully Supported" when they print "Supports Quad" on their boxes.. They said they will RMA for a new T1 revision, but I hate waiting for something I thought I already paid for...

BTW, I have to say the DI is an exceptionally well made block, feels very heavy. Only thing I didn't like was the last cuts made on the base pins just sort of bends over the middle row of pins.

Don't count on it, the first 780i board I bought was an Asus that officially supported the Q6600, what they forgot to tell you was that the official support will be coming in the form of bios patches. I guess they assumed you had another CPU to flash it with also.

Love the look of the block. The attention to detail is exceptional.

I dont know what the inner pin matrix dimensions are... with that said, don't bother trying to match it, I know the optimal dimensions for the step. 23mm x 23mm FTW. I would go .5mm deep for lapping room.

Forgive the ignorance, what do you mean when you refer to "stepping"?, machining the base?

Yeah, machining would be best, but you could also probably do it with a hand file since the raised portion (not in contact) doesn't have to be perfect.

I have two of the AC DI's, just getting ready to put two systems together. I think they look exceptional, best looking block I think.

That why I have a mill, but there are some real craftsman people on these boards, I 'm sure with some of the skillz I've seen people with here, they could do that. Not very many people have access to a mill, just something I heard before and it could probably be done.

Not me though, I'm too lazy...

It appears AC made some small changes to the base versus the one that Martin has (since I sent it to Nik). If I remember correctly mine had severely bent fins in the center and didn't have the fins removed directly above the inlet to the second chamber like Naekuh's pictures show.

Would be interesting to take a dremel to the original base and see if it improves the performance.

i was gonna ask DB to help me out in finding someone.

OR i was gonna ask CD if he could do it for me.

I know either of these guys could help me.

I would love to ask iandh, however, he's uber backed up. Great guy tho

A Dremel will do it NaeKuh. I use it to try and make my own blocks here.

That said, for my actual designs I sent those out.

That would be a great idea however septim is so on the dot with me.

You can ask martin exactly how nit picky i am with some things.

The dremel wouldnt do the block any justice kayin.

Anyhow update: iandh offered to step it. So i will get it stepped 23x23mm per nikh's recomendation. (Nikh does this apply to all cpu's? or we just looking at dualcores?)

After that im gonna shove it to martin and beg him to run a thermal on my block vs. nikh's block since he's whoring it still.

Im sure scott wont mind him holding onto it for a bit longer for this.

    I understand completely.

You should see what's in the magic bench vise now, though...

Looks really similar, except it seems to have storm type cups...

I can't tell ya what the hell it is. Just too plain strange.

But, I can tell ya it'll be interesting...
