Ya I was referring to parts value. As long as the compressors work, $150 would've been an alright price... the cases look pretty nice and they have a temp readout built-in.

I did some load testing on one of the units I have. This is what I got.

    Ambient 17.5C

    Idle -60.4C
    103 watts -46.6C
    122 watts -44.6C
    132 watts -44.1C
    140 watts -43.5C
    151 watts -41.2C

It won’t hold anything more than that. They are charged with r507 btw.

Thats negative right? I'd want to plant a probe on the evap though to see real temps. And max of 150 seems about right.

How do you know they are charged with R507? What size is the compressor?

They probably have a tag on it.
As for compressor, its a dual compressor unit. 1/4-1/2hp or something reciprocatings. Really should have much better temps but its not the best evap, and not tuned for higher numbers. Its a few year old unit.

I edited my post to make more clear. Those were load block temps. ( k- type in center of block, .050 from surface) The panel display temps didn't drop much below -50. It's a K-type on the top of the evap. Not sure how secure it is though.

They are surplus units from Intel labs. They came with a hazardous disposal sheet. Can't find any specs on the compressors. Made by USA compressor.

Nah new GPU's are more then 150.
However someone could get it and pay a builder to make it into two units easily.

a 3870 x2 easily kicks out more than 150 but that is 2 gpu procs, so it doesnt count, aha. An 8800 ultra does more than that also, but an 8800 gts 512 (g92) would be right about there . Also an HD 3870 single core should be within that range I think. So it depends on the GPU. Unless I am totally off on the wattage of these gpus.

well being compressors has little to do with load as thats determined by the system as a whole and primarily the metering device I see how it having two or more compressors make any differance?

Oh and why call it happy if it can't handle load? One would think it would be a rather sad unit being it can't take high load.

You are going to like the compressor Charles. Not really for cascade (you could but I wouldn't :P)
But for 2 single stages... Yumm.
