Sooooooo, I picked up an E8400 through my company from a wholesaler and threw it in today.

So let's see what she can do now.

Here's the story of getting her up and running.

Threw her into my P5N-E SLI board and started up to only be greeted by ROMSIP Table Update don't restart/power off.

Never seen that before, so it kind of freaked me out. I reset cmos before throwing the cpu in of course since my previous e6420 settings might mess things up.

So I get into bios and set everything to my liking and save, only to get the same message as the first cold boot, but in the bios.

Everything saved fine, get out of bios and it posts, stops at windows load.

I get back into bios and notice I left spread spectrum settings on. Turn 'em all off and save, same romsip message and this time it loads windows and I'm typing to you from my desktop.

Default settings for cpu for now. Going to play with it as soon as I'm done writing this.

I think I'm the first person, in the general public, to slap one of these puppies into this board, no?
