600MHz FSB Air Cooled with Wolfdale on G33 Chipset

Want to share my Results with you

Got 580MHz max FSB with E8500 Wolfdale on my HTPC mainboard. It´s a Gigabyte GA-G33M-DS2R

CPU is Aircooled with an Freezer 7 Pro

    Mainboard is stock without mods.

Got another wolfdale, a E8400 and give him a try. Max FSB on Air was 570MHz. While using setfsb and switching up to 575mhz fsb the system freezes.

    http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=279136

Little update, new CPU E8200 on air with boxed cooler.

Itīs insane. This is the cheapest Board in the house but the board wich perfoms best with wolfdale cpu.

Before it runs on Asus P5K-E, Asus Maximus Formula and Foxconn Mars but the max FSB was between 530-550MHz.

Tomorrow I will give a short test on Gigabyte P35 DQ6.

How stable was this? Did it boot into this or was it set after? Can it run any apps? Also, what memory did you use there?

Seems like 600+ FSB should be possible with phase.

For sure. 580 on air is simply amazing.

Also hope that Yorkfield will have an improved fsb over Kensfield.

i put the CPU today on a Gigabyte P35-DQ6, max FSB SuperPi 1M 570Mhz! (on air)

On Foxconn Mars max FSB 1M 555Mhz (it need ~1.9v vNB )

    edit: on DQ6

Running it with 2GB of PC2-8500 ballistix. Boot up with 560MHz and then used setfsb. But never tried to but with higher fsb. Tomorrow I can test a E8400 and will try how stable it is at high fsb

Normally I have running a Q9550 on this board. It can do max 463MHz on this board. With 464MHz it will boot but is only super pi 1m stable. On Asus P5K it can do max 471MHz fsb.

This is VERY promising! I really hope the retail versions of these chips do something close to these numbers.

I do have one question though. Why doesn't anybody post the temps on these OC threads? I sure would like to know what the core temps were at 1.34vCore and 580 fsb with 7.5 multi for a speed of 4.3Ghz.

I think you're missing the point, this topic was started to show what max fsb is possible on new 45nm cpu's.

Temps are somewhat irrelevant and depent to much on cooling solution and ambient temps, current cpu's can still be stable over 70C.

What does it tell you if he gets 30C idle?

These wolfdale chips look to be something really special.
The little air system that could.

    Nice FSB and CPUs

What is the maximum clock with the E8400?

Nothing is maxed Out. vMCH is Normal, vFSB is +0.1V

But I think the key to get as such high fsb on wolfdale cpu is the GTLREF Ratio. I set it from 0.636 to 0.603.

Raising the MCH voltage will end in blue screen, same thing if I set the vFSB voltage to +0.2V

At the moment I am testing max stable fsb. Prime95 is running since 30min with 560x6

Thank you Never tried till yet to get the maximum clock. But tried this night to boot with 560x8 and 1.55V set in bios. No go Will figure it out later.

Obviously idle temps don't really say much, but if he would mention his room temps and post his core temps (he already mentions what he is using for a cooler) and it showed that at 4.3Ghz under load he was under 40C it tells me these 45nm chips run MUCH cooler than the 65nm and that means alot to me.

But I gues I am missing the point. This has nothing to do with MAX fsb. It is just something I like to know.
