    Testing >>> 8800GT SLI 20K 3DMARK06 Stock Coolers

    hi guys

ok so i finally got around to installing these new 8800GT cards i got during my visit to Nvidia last week for Editor's Day Event in Santa Clara California

Here are some notes on testing from last night

    Test Configuration:
    XFX 680i SLI Motherboard
    Intel Core2 Quad Q6600 G0 stepping
    2GB DDR2 Corsair Dominators PC10000
DUAL 8800GT PCIe 2.0 512MB Graphics Cards in SLI (Stock coolers)
    Corsair HX620 Power Supply
    Corsair Nautilus 500 CPU Watercooling
    160GB Samsung IDE Hard Drive
    Windows XP Pro 32bit

    rough ambient during testing: 23.5-28C

also this power supply absolutely kicks ass.........it did not move from 12.05-12.06V on 12V RAIL

    I LOVE THESE VIDEO CARDS

HERE ARE SOME TESTS AT 3.6GHz on Quad with stock card clocks 600/900

i had some odd things start happening after my first OC...i though the gain was a bit low

    PUSHED THE CARDS TO 700/1000

Following this i noticed the results actually drop down LOL. I benched the cards up to 740MHz in SLI but scores were worse................
temps were maxing out at 56C or so and i did a few restarts but it was strange

In the end i overclocked the CPU as it seems really bottlenecked and gained a bit boost from CPU OC alone

FINALLY ENDED THE NIGHT WITH ANOTHER QUICK BOOST IN CPU AND GFX

i have to do some investigating as to add behaviour of the setup and instability creeping in as well lol at these clocks....was 3am already so i was too tired to go on

bloody 680i chipset soo many unnecessary headaches >> finally wrestled it into 3.96GHz 3D stable for today's bench session

3DMARK01 is a lot of fun >> at the end i couldn't get my LL to ~920 that i had before LOL but it turned out OK in the end

looks at the nature FPS in the end

LOL idd try running 2 ati's :now i dont have to heat up the room , just put on my pc and run 3d for 30min and done i have 22°C room temp .
and this is in winter , dinos what are load temps on those card's ?
im getting more and more intrested in those : price is really nice 2 .
here one shop selling 230€ witch is very low compared to 2900XT and pro's 370€(still going higher evry day in price ) and 300€ to 290€ for the pro .
nvidia has done a great move with those card's

i plugged mine in today was reading 52c idle few mins after i had installed it, didnt have ne time to test it as my cpu block started leaking inside and dripping towards my 8800gt

That's good to hear you don't think they are as hot as everyone seems to think. Running SLI with double-slot cards just isn't practical. I'm not going to give up my sound card and I'm sure I speak for others that use their rig for more than just benching. SLI with these single-slot 8800GT's is awesome.

default fan speed on these is ~20% whereas GTS is 60%

dino as far as overclocking and fan control is concerned, are you using riva and do you have seperate control of each card? how does this work?

so then can you control fan speed and clocks on both with either?
how did you do it? did it let you run the fans at 100% on both.

those were my questions you left unanswered

so when you move the core freq for instance and the fan speed it just automatically does it on both cards ?
