    Wolfdale 2.33G Overclking on a 100$ mobo :)

    Wolfdale 2.33G under Koolance Watercooling
    J&W P35 / Asus Blitz Extreme mod.
    Crucial PC2-8500 / Cellshocks PC3-14400.
    Zotac 8800gtx
    Topower 2000w

    1. on J&W P35.
vfsb=1.3v, vmch=1.45v (max available in bios)
    max fsb boot/benchable into OS=530mhz
can't do pi_32m benching, dont know why,
guess maybe sub_timing issue which we can't set with memset.
but...how can I expect more for a 100$ only mobo

    2. On Asus Blitz Extreme, cap+inductor mod.
    vfsb=1.4v, pll=1.76v, vnb=1.75v
    max boot/benchable fsb=535mhz
    but can't finish 3D bench > 515fsb
and seems 45nm/ddr3 have some problem working together.

wolfdale running slower in 3Dmark than C2D/C2Q.
here is a qx6800 at 3.6G for u to compare.
lower fsb, loosen timings, higher memclk.
    i assume it's a fair play

    it's quite different overclk a 45nm than C2D/C2Q.
    1. bootable fsb is much higher than benchable fsb.
    2. dont scale much under cold.
fsb gained only about 20~25mhz higher when I tested under LN2.
    3. coldbug=-80c (read from bios), about -110~-120c pot temp.

Thank you very much for sharing your results!

Do you think lower 3D Mark Score is due to poor bios support?

    Wow, thanks for sharing Victor!

Btw, you have 127MHz more ram speed when running the QX6800 in 3dMark05. That makes quite a difference

Bios is definitly not okay yet: "bootable fsb is much higher than benchable fsb."

    1800 765 vs 16xx 655.
    450fsb vs 515fsb (both 266 fsb strap)

at least, there's no performance gain in 3Dmark

I see 7-6-5-18-1T on both? I think 127mhz more ram speed gives more extra speed than 60mhz fsb.

Well... they might be a good step up from an E6850- same multi, hopefully the same FSB ceiling once we get the retail stepping, but more cache...and should only be slightly more expensive than E6850. (and maybe take the same benefits to the Quad-core line as well?)

Im thinking there might be an FSB hit because of the extra cache..

    Extreme Edition..unlocked multi?

Thanks for sharing Victor, maybe the FSB of the board was the limit for overclocking. What were the temperatures like with water?
