    Exclamation Asus 8800gtx Top

    Since they RELLY do produce 8800 cards, it’s no wonder that they’re first with “different” 8800GTX!

    Urh. thermal-tak cooler, from what i have seen that cooler is worse than the stock in many cases.
    Whats with the uncovered chip on the left and the fan on the waterblock

    The fan is for cooling the RAM chips and maybe the PWM. This model looks like a prototype, for example you can still see the TIM on the RAMDAC/TDMS chip, so it's probably just a normal 8800GTX with the stock cooler stripped. Could be that they are still working on a heatsink for the RAMDAC/TDMS chip.

    The fan on the card looks like it sits on a heatsink that sits on the memory. But it looks like its a blower type fan that moves air laterally along the card, and not down onto the heatsink. And yea, whats that uncovered chip on the left that looks like it has some thermal grease smeared on it? Hmm, small id tubes with tight bends. What is the fan/rad setup? Its hard to tell from the pic. I wonder how much extra $ this setup costs.

    Obviously but a mock up...

    And in terms of marketing, the worse temps dont matter at all - it's water cooled after all, for the joe's it's the bling bling that matters..
    In short, both AMD and NVIDIA discovered that their next-generation graphics cards are superior to each others' last-generation graphics cards.

    What is the extra connector for? The one coming from the card itself, not the one from the rad/pump combo. TEC anyone?

    since hot GPUs like G80 are around it's only a matter of time until they make a graphics with stock phase cooling

    well it is definitely not Digital PWM and by the looks of it, non of it is being actively cooled. So if I had to guess the fan on the card is to cool the GDDR3, which they probably overvolted a little bit and cranked the speed

    8800 = 2 slots

    thermaltak watercooler = 2 slots (needs another to breathe, so 3 tbh)

    sli = x2

    8 slots needed for sli (10 for watercooler breathing)

    depends what you use for physics, say another 8800 thats 6 slots for the gpu and another 6 for the watercoolers.

    12 slots for tripple 8800, 15 for breathing.

    Yeah......

    Uh yeeeah! that sucker gets WAY hot also... perhaps thats a pic of an alpha unit?

    anyways.. that's too bulky for SLI imo.. you're be better off with stock cooling anyways.. two 8800s at default speeds is a lot of power..

    still looks like the same card to me.. only deverend Thermaltake cooling and some air cooling for the rest of the card... a full 8800 block setup whit some proper watercooling sould do the job bedder i think..
