Asus P5Be Quick test, the bang for the buck.

I've played a little with this new motherboard low coast as i like

Tested with aircooling, m/b isn't handpicked.

This E6600 is really great for FSB even on air, with my P5B DLX i was able to do Pi 1M @ 570 FSB.

Unfortunately i'ven't found any program to oc under windows

Some +100% FSB oc screenies :

    Vista overclocking test :

    Max Pi 1M FSB :

540 FSB in bios is ok as you can see.

Maybe i can do better by vmodding the vddr, because i had to relax the timings to hit 540 prime stable.

Great job. I might consider this instead of the DS3 for my E6300.

    You should.

AFAIK, the DS3 is borked still when it comes to reaching over 450 with D9 chips, which is just silly.

You don't have quite the vdimm options as the DS3, but in every other way, i'd have to say the P5B-E is better.

daaaaammmmmm 540 out of a budget board.

christ when are they going to put that same unit into a mATX form factor !

roadster are you able to test with a higher 7 8 or 9x multi ?

and is this no mods ? no sub zero cooling on the NB like someone else did,, cough cough... and then didnt tell anyone he did it.

I used to have one P5B-E - it could barely do FSB450 MHz, so definitely that wasn't a good one, but maybe some of you will be luckier. I've recently tested some MOBOs of gigabyte and foxconn based on Intel 965G and G945 - compared to even worst P5B-E they were crappy lemons. FSB 280-300

Lestat yes i'm able to push higher with more cold but i'm tired
    8X should do the trick.

I will give it a try later

No mods yet of course, nb was passive cooled, not better with a fan on it .

Maybe it's your cpu holding you back, some are better than other for this exercise, the only solution is : Test it with a mobo already tested and approved for 500+ FSB and you'll know.

    mach82,

    all
of the 945 boards puke at at 300mhz or less. it has to do with the pci-e lock
as for the intel, well, if its the mATX board then yes that has issues too. its a solid little board but nothing worth buying for an overclocker.

To set the record straight on the 965G boards, they are limited to 350FSB with a SATA drive due to a hard code by Intel on the memory sync settings. This was done to stop memory corruption (shared system memory) when using the X3000 graphics core. The two best 965G boards at this time are only hitting 325~330 at best in a stable manner.

My 1.02G P5B-E is extremely stable at 7x520 with a less than stellar E6300. It will do 6x552 with the same CPU before the board locks.

Really? I don't think so. I've managed to do FSB 330 MHz with a Gigabyte GA-945P-S3, but the G945 seem to be realy horrible OCers.

Nah, tried my E6400 using multiplier x7, so it was just 3150 MHz. Didn't have any problems to reach higher frequency with my gigabyte DQ6, DS3 and Asus P5B Dlx. The sticks were fine, CPU voltage as well (set 1.4V, which is enough to be work stably at ~3.5 GHz), but the P5B-E didn't manage to go any higher. But still FSB 450 MHz isn't a bad result. Sill, luck af the draw is important...

Can you buy that one in the United States? I doubt I will swap mobos because this particular DS3 I have gave me zero issues during set-up.......but I am still interested just to know.
