Get 8800GTS if you find GTX hard on the wallet.

Looking at the current benchmarks based obviously on underdeveloped drivers, the GTS isn't much better than the 7900GTX...so I might even say buy a 7900GT and volt mod it...Originally Posted by perkam

lol...ok...then go buy your 7900GTX...or tell the thread starter to do so...but make sure to give him your name and address, so that then when it comes out and the threadstarter sees the numbers of a properly clocked GTS, he can send you some nice things in the mailOriginally Posted by Shpoon

At this point, the GTS looks horrible...it's more of a 7975 really
The GTX on the other hand...however at this moment the GTX and GTS cost more than my Conroe by a hefty margin. I'm saying wait until a)games/apps support DX10, and b)wait for a better price.
Just my 2 cents.
(Oh ya, and my comment wasn't directed at the OP who HAS a 7900GTX, so I'd gladly give him my address. Only people with no opinions would blindly follow a forum suggestion *cough PSU of the month (K, that was just a low blow) without weighing their options themselves).

i don't give a rat's a** about whether you're jumping on the g80 bandwagon or not...just don't bash something and force the threadstarter to make the wrong decision because you have little idea of how big of an evolution the 8800 series is.
Marko, its $449 and a helluva deal...not $1000. Plus at $449, if well oced it can beat x1900s and 7900s in sli.

what's that supposed to mean?
8900 = 65nm? (it would cut die size in half, amongst other things)
BTW: what is the voltage that GTX/GTS run (considering its still the same TSMC 90nm and GTS OC is hitting like 600Mhz+, I'd imagine around 1.3V)
24/7: A64 3000+ (\_/) @2.4Ghz, 1.4V
1 GB OCZ Gold (='.'=) 240 2-2-2-5
Giga-byte NF3 (")_(") K8NSC-939
XFX 6800 16/6 NV5 @420/936, 1.33V
Those days have come and gone by...i can't upgrade the vga with a celeron as a cpu...its always what has held me back...if i upgrade i'd have to upgrade both.Originally Posted by NickS
Hopefully a pentium e will solve the cpu problem later this year (already have a conroe-compatible mobo) and the 8600GT/RV630XT will come out in late q2 2k7. I just don't wanna buy anything lower than unified shader after seeing 8800 performance.
Yields on single card oc are remarkable...and the OCs are SO dang smooth. Half the performance of oced GTS is more than a single 7900GTX...and thats $250 right there(Half of $499)

um.. pentium e?Originally Posted by perkam
Personally, if you are using hardware that old, I fail to see why you need anything more than a x1900 or 7900gto/gtx.
I installed my 187$ sealed 7900GTX(real GTX, not GTO) in my Yonah this weekend, and I LOVE IT (you guys thought the 149$ X1900 AIW was a deal LOL!)
Clearly your not playing FEAR or Oblivion with what you have, why do you even need 8800/R600? Nick is still using an X800 right now!

Chances are I'll do what I did with ATI's X8xx and Nvidia' 7-series - wait until it's almost dead and buy a GTO that unlocks/overclocks to the fullest potential of their highest-end device for less than half the price of buying the card new and getting an oversized, quieter stock cooler at the same time.
Dual CCIE (Route\Switch and Security) at your disposal. Have a Cisco-related or other network question? My PM box is always open.
Xtreme Network:
- Cisco 3560X-24P PoE Switch
- Cisco ASA 5505 Firewall
- Cisco 4402 Wireless LAN Controller
- Cisco 3502i Access Point
I plan on buying the 8800GTX when it comes out but only one of them to replace it with two 8900GTXes when they come out in march-ish.
You have to have a mental disorder if you use these cards in SLI..or even consider it.

wow I can smell high blood pressure all because of sketchy numbers and the good ole rumor mill cranking once again..............why not just wait for the cards to be put on the market and in about a week or two see what credible ####s are produced and shared so then the rest of us can choose to make a buy based on affordable prices vs real world performance?
Why is there always a testosterone driven feeding frenzy over rumors and preliminary numbers?
DX10 will be purchased by me when they decide to get their asses in gear and lower the power consumption. ATI or NV, i dont care but i refuse to install a 800-1000 watt psu.
Anyone think the 8800 GTX will fit in my Antec P180?
