    L627 E6600 isnt nessercarily good :(

Today, I was all exicited about my new L627A101 CPU, according to what others have told me, man this CPU should be the beeest!

Sad thing is, it sucks so xtremely bad... - Itll do 3400mhz with 1.675v!! :|
    - My week 23 does 3600 at 1.575v..

    Watercooled results :\

Gonna put my mach II on tomorrow, its 10PM and I started university today, so not a good idea to do some late night testing...
Anyhow, considering sending that CPU back to the store tomorrow

Cause "Købeloven", which is a law about purchasing items.. - Gives one 14 days full right to return an item, if its an item you didnt physicly buy.. (over the web / telephone that works.. )
But its kinda' bad style.. But thing is.. I've just paid 2K$ for my apartment, and another 500$ on kitchen items.. - So Im running low on cash

M.Beier: "Itll do 3400mhz" omg omg... only 1 GIGAHERZ over the default will you sue the Intel about it ?

on a serious note: I have 6300 which runs only 3 Ghz on _reasonable_ thermal prifile (imho) for me. I would call it GREAT, will ya ? im not talking about LN and stuff like this, but since Celeron 300A@500 it is damn best CPU I _ever_ had

guys....you're placing entirely too much emphasis on the week. overclocking has a lot to do with getting the right chip. some are winners, some are average, others are not going to get much more than stock. there's no formula to it....week 23, week 26, week 27....they're all the same. what we've seen here on XS is not nearly enough to even start claiming that we have even the minimum number of results to start making statistical observations. just buy your chip and see what it does. if you're not satisfied there's always eBay...

    Agreed.

They complain too much instead of putting efforts to get a good overclock.

Mine is week 24 and I get 4.0 with maximum cpu vcore but it is not stable.

If my CPU was crappy I would be happy with 3.2 stable.

Get a good psu and try it again.
6800ES B1 or retail B2 both will go 5Ghz with LN2 and the right componenets.
There not much different in weeks or steppings.

I thought this is clear as well already =), luck of the draw ...kunaak, I remember, on one of his post even said about the colors of the CPU, etc. etc. I even mentioned that to claim something is good (or bad), a reliable data whose sample size is "justified", must be used and not just a random sample seen on a few sites.

I've probably tried, bought & tested more retail cpus than most memebers here, and my experience using the exact same equipment is the cpus are clocking better as the weeks progress. My latest cpu which is week 28 allowed me to boot into windows at speeds the week 27 wouldn't even post. This allowed me to realize I need to run divider over 400 Mhz FSB to get stable. Something to do with the 1066 boot strap I guess. I'm going to play with this week 28 overnight and switch back to the week 27 and try clocking without 1:1 on the memory.

I got a week 27 as well and it isn't that great. Requires to much voltage.

I agree with some of the more experienced users' opinion. Some folks tend to generate a "trend" or "sensation" too eagerly as if it were some great discovery. As far as I can see, Intel seems to be quite adapt at binning and only your luck/skill/components are most important factors when it comes to C2D OC'ing. It doesn't mean there will not be any OC'ing phenomina related to steppings in the future, but with Conroe being out only a few weeks, getting too worked up by the production week of your processor isn't terribly wise.
I don't check my PMs very often.
