For those who cannot OC their DS3...

CrazyJohn and I have been scratching our heads trying to figure out why some have amazing results with this board and some have absolutely no overclocking success.

After trying 3 bioses and changing every setting in bios, I've found that my board WILL not overclock even 1mhz while "Legacy USB storage detect" is enabled in bios. It is located in the "Integrated Peripherals" section of the bios. If you're having a problem where you change a setting located in M.I.B. Intelligent Overclocking, then DISABLE this setting and it should fix it. Hope that helps.

I'll try this. Does this mean I won't have USB support?

I don't think this is the problem as I can OC my e6300 to 450+ with this option ENABLED.

For more weird overclocking limitations. If I have a DVI LCD screen plugged in on my 6600GT during startup, changing any MIT settings will cause a restart. So I plug my secondary LCD in as the BIOS finishes and just before WinXP boots (so it shows the screen in Windows).

is the DS4 having these same issues? Maybe I will wait a bit longer for those to hit the shelfs more. I cannot find any where online that sells it right now.

    dave,
the issues that's bugging the ds4 is quite isolated though...some can achieve results with flying colours while others, like myself, stuck at not being able to OC at all...

i wouldn't use that general statement as it doesn't affect all boards...only certain small number of boards are affected...

I had to put the PCI Express Frequency to Auto. I have the USB Legacy thing disabled also. So far on this 805D & DS3 it is prime stable & no Cold boot resets for 3 times in a row now (knock on wood). This is easily the most finicky board I have had in 16 years of building systems.... This is my second board & it has not been any easier to setup on an overclock. Stock is fine.

as i've posted in the other thread, i now can confirm that by changing gfx from 7600gt to other pcie such as the x550, you can start to OC...

    should be some incompatibility problem...

I just want to add a "me too".

I have a Celeron D 2.5 ghz that really wants to be overclocked. I've tried two different brands of memory (PQI and Patriot) and it doesn't make a difference.

The most frustrating this is that I got it to work ONCE after a lot of persistence. My measly 2.5 ghz CPU ran completely stable at 3.9 ghz making a nice 56% overlock. I benchmarked and tested and all was stable. But it stopped after I opened my case and added another stick of RAM, and I haven't gotten the OC to succeed again since. (I removed the 2nd RAM and it still doesn't work) That fact that it "occasionally" works randomly may make some of the reports misleading, because people might think they did something specific and it worked, but really it was just random.

I hope a solution is found soon, this motherboard could be awesome but right now frustrating as hell!

Oh yeah, the Windows OC utility works somewhat for me, but it doesn't help much because I spend 90% of my time in Linux...

I've got an E6600 / DS3 and the no-oc'ing problem as well. Disabling legacy USB support hasn't worked for me. I'll go try some things I read in other threads and post back my success/failure.

    --------
edit: ok I was mistaken - my problem is fsb wall, not being unable to OC at all - I was just trying to start off too high. over/underclocking by a couple mhz works fine as does changing just the multiplier (u/c).. so I guess I am no help here...
