Any clue if disabling the onboard audio is necessary to use the black PCI-E slot? Also, is it just me or I can't seem to find a RAM divider in the bios anywhere. I'm sure its somewhere, but nothing I've pressed so far gives me the predictable menu of ratios I'm used to?
I get same issue but for 8GB ram, it only checks until 68xxMB after the new bios flash starts first time.

Also im using the Memory Remap Feature for 64bit OS.
Havn't really investigated what it does, but im tinkering.

Overall i like this mobo, still have to get around to securing the screws with washers.

Can someone please tell us what size washer you used on the back of the motherboard?

I'm getting this board next week and would like to go out and buy the washers now so I'm ready for its arrival.

    Forget it......

I must make a CMOS Reset when I use 400, the Board switch on and off, but I can not go into the BIOS.....

Here in Spain in 5 boards, 4 come with serious problems of temperature. Reached out of the box 90ºC in NB and shutdown. I already have tested three boards. With the last board I have had success with the NB, using 0.8mm washers, Artic Silver and tightening strong. But my SB is 5-7º above the NB, no matter if i use washers or Artic Silver too.
We really need someone to explain the optimal and ultimately solution to this serious problem.

try CPU at like 1.38-9 ... wouldnt go over 1.4 ever for 24/7 opperation ...

    also try
    x9
    445
    with CPU voltage at 1.36-7
    and ram at 2.1-2.2

see if that makes it any better

lower the nb volts, so far i have gotten 4hz on my 3110( same core as the 8400) with the nb at 1.25,PLL is 1.55, cpu is 1.27 but vdrop puts it at 1.25, fsb 1.28

keeping the fsb term higher than the nb seems to help, also load line enabled really helps. my vdroop was like .03 with out it.

Same question. I've always used the 1st and 3rd slots, but used the 2nd and 4th slots based on the manual. Does it really matter?

I've used the Level up feature to get to 3.66 MHz (366x10) witn a Q6700. I'm an AMD convert and this board has so many freak'n options that I took the noob way out for now.

    nb temps are like 40C

sb is maybe a few degrees cooler

and if anyones curious, all red caps.

LOVE the board! I've had to put up with all sorts of stupid from nforce boards, and even the prior ROG asus boards. To finally get one that works is.. beyond awesome.

and just so we're clear, which slot is the yellow slot? LOL'd when I read that. This is why you don't copy/paste manual pages, asus.

Where is the POWER temp sensor located? Idle the sensor says around 32C, but when I load it's like 52C, and in everyone elses screenshots under load is around 38C... the ASUS probe II sets off an alert at 50C... so is this going to be a major problem for me?

Not sure how the mobo would monitor the PSU temperature since no sensors are plugged into the motherboard from it.

Windows Vista and Orthos both read my CPU speed at 5.04 Mhz when it's only 3.3 Mhz ? I have my FSB at 560x6.5 with a FSB?DRAM ratio of 1:1

Any one else getting these false readings ?

Also I am new to overclocking and intel processors, I was wondering what I should disable in the Bios for the best overclocking results for example CIE Support- Max CPUID value Limit -Intel Virtualization tech -CPU TM Function-Execute Disable Bit.

I was wondering if any one has an E8400 Overclcoked to 4 GHz (Stable) using an Asus Maximus II motherboard?

If so could you Please Post some pictures of your bios so I can see what voltages I need to adjust and what settings I need to enable or Disable !

I have been trying to get my system stable for a week without Success right Now I am currently running my CPU @ 3.8 475x8 Vcore 1.36, Orthos has been running for 1 hr Now, but I would love to get this cpu to 4GHz !

    Thanks in advance

    Update:

Maximum Temp on both cores 51c but usualy hovers around 46c on core 0 and 49c on core 1. Idle I get 26c on 0 and 28c on 1, that's using a TJMAX of 95 vcore bios 1.36 cpu-z 1.344

Have you guys been able to get decent fsb with quads with this mobo? I was never able to get higher than 450 on my older DFI P35 UT board or even the DFI X48 LT board. I just played with a few settings and was easily able to boot at 470 with Maximus II formula...I haven't done any stress testing yet...that will follow soon. I'm thinking I may even get this CPU to 500! I haven't even changed any GTL settings yet.
