The Gigabyte board I mentioned on post 90 would fit the bill for you.

    Gigabyte GA-890GPA-UD3H Info

It has 6 internal SATA 6.0 through the 890GX chipset and an additional 2 SATA 3.0's alongside it (probably through the same chipset providing the IDE port). It should work perfectly with the Cooler Master CM690 II case I recently bought. That case has a SATA connection for an internal drive on the top of the case along with a standard esata connection (both using internal SATA connections in the case). That will fill my external needs and the other 6 ports can be used for my hard drives/optical drives.

Keep this thread or the other thread updated regarding your experience with this board. I don't expect mine until Friday.

I had the original 790gx board that Gigabyte put out and it has worked pretty well so I expect this board to be decent.

My package is in transit, but UPS doesn't have an update on the arrival time yet. Since I bought the standard 3 day select and it's going from Cali to Pennsylvania with an origin scan of Wednesday morning I suspect I won't get it until Monday

I actually ordered the Gigabyte GA-MA790GP-DS4H from Newegg about a week early in a very similar scenario back in August 2008 right before the 790gx chipset was officially announced.

Why promote OC and provide just a 4pin 12V ATX power connector :-(

Maybe it isn't needed. I mean do ya think a GIGABYTE GA-P55A-UD6 needs a 24 phase power VRM? Pretty pointless.
Maybe these boards are more efficient to match upcoming chips. If this thing supports and can OC an X6 then real good things to come we can hope.

:-) I don't care about the number of phases. I've seen very stable regulation with 3-6 phases. This is enough for my air cooled setups.
But I've had one completely burned 4pin ATX connector and multiple connectors that already turned brownish... (I'm running some PCs for folding 24h a day) I don't trust the 4pin connectors anymore.

Turning brown is probably a sign of a bad connection. Causing heating.

Crosshair IV Formula would be awesome. Let's hope it has at least 3x PCI-e 16X slots.
