this has got to be the best hose ever.

I must be behind the times, cause Ive never seen this stuff. ITs Laguna Non-Kink hose. Ive been using their black PVC hose for awhile now, because its tougher than Tygon. But I happened upon this stuff. And I cant kink it. Its freaking awesome.

So whats the drawback Im missing?

    manufacturer's link

This picture doesnt really show what the hose can do. Ill upload some photos as soon as this camera driver dloads.

no. its perfectly smooth. The outside feels like hose with coolsleeves built in. At first I thought that they were probably metal, but the guy helping me at the store cut through it with a pair of scissors. The ribs are formed on the outside of the same material. I think its PVC.

The ribs would help keep hose clamps from cutting it too. Do you have a link of where we could purchase this? Only drawback is that its black so you can't tell when your water is getting nasty.

okay. So here's a link to the photos. Sorry about the quality. One of these days Im going to have to buy a real digital camera.

Anyway, the photos, show the bend you can get. Its nuts. Im lovin this stuff so far.

The three photos at the end show the difference between this stuff and Tygon tubing.

So far the only drawback Im seeing is that it may be tuff to get it to clamp down evenly since your clamps will be on top of the ribs.

But I think Ill be able to work with it, especially at the $.65 a foot price.

Use small stainless steel hose clamps, they will be wide enough to cover 2-3 ribs so you'll get even pressure.

£0.79(£0.25) per metre(foot) makes it way cheaper too =]

lol - can you imagine a WC rig with 1.5" plumbing - do they make barbs that big?

how it reacts at low temps and with additives is prolly the most important question?

Id be willing to do that from here to. My local dealer was only charging $.65 a foot. (I may just go buy the rest of the box tomorrow)

As far as the additives reaction, Im pretty sure the material is PVC. Ive been using the smooth PVC from the same manufacturer for about a year and havent had any problems yet. For what that's worth.

Oh and my Polar Flo came in today, so Ill be reworking my rig this weekend if all goes as planned.

    Ill keep you all informed.

Looks like a good product, how does it stretch over barbs? Im thinking about how it would go over the larges tubbing on a HC.

    Alrighty, here's my first report.

The hose's flexibility is absolutely excellent. I have a 90 degree angle made with it going into my pump. The angle is as short as a barb fitting, and it has absolutely no kink in it.

The stuff is more difficult to put on barbs than a regular tubing, ie smooth PVC, Tygon, vinyl. This is, I believe, due to the ribs. If its tougher to kink, than naturally its going to be tougher to flare. This isnt really a big problem, just a little more time consuming.

The problem that has arisen is this: it is hard to get a clamp to seal the hose. With the smooth PVC that I had been using, I was using a squeeze clamp, that clamped evenly around the entire clamp, and maintained a consistent circle.

However, this ribbed PVC has a larger outside diameter (OD). Ths inside diameter (ID) is of course the same 1/2 inch. Therefore, I was unable to use the hose clamps that I had previously been using. I bought some regular screw tightening hose clamps, which as most know do not clamp in an even circle. They tend to become oblong as they get smaller in diameter.

And that is currently the problem that Im trying to deal with.
I have gone through and used plumber's putty on all of my hose barbs. That has sealed all but two. The plumber's putty also made it easier to get the hose onto the barbs. But those two still have very slow little leaks. I may change out the clamps to newer, still round ones.
I did use a couple of those plastic ring clamps these ones. I put them on the radiator barbs and they havent leaked at all. Im not sure if its the clamp, the barb type or just the fact that those barbs are facing downward. I may try to find some of those locally, and use them furthur.

Im posting this from a diiferent computer, so Ill check back to answer any questions from time to time. Im kind of in a hurry so I apologize if this post isnt very clear and easy to comprehend. And if anyone has knowledge of a different type of clamp, please post it, so I can check it out and see if it will work better.

Ill post back, when I figure it out, and post pics than too.

    thx

If the barbs are long enough, I like to use two metal hose clamps with the screws on opposite sides so it evens out pressure. I've never had a leak using this method.

McMasterr has different sized clamps (those squeeze ones you mention).

I don't like the plastic clamps, they don't get tight enough. I put them on with pliers and I could still twist the tubing on barbs easily. Tighten up a metal screw type though and it doesn't move.
