Just got mine last night and started playing with them, I think I can do better

2x512MB OCZ PC3200 Gold BH Die
2 x MSI 6600GT's at Stock (500/1000)

Just got back from getting some of these PC3200 GOLD BH dies...

Gonna fire up the DFI & see if they fare any better than my 2 x 256MB BH5 or VX4000... Both of which I could not get running properly or OC worth a damn on this DFI...

I'll also be testing it on my K8N Neo2 & DDR Booster as well... before I even start, I think I'll be limited on the DFI bcos of no proper 24pin PSU...

Any which way, I'll be happy tonite if these ones do 2-2-2-5 @ DDR400... Much better then the other RAM I had recently...

Quick report on 3200 GOLD & DFI... So far no problems at all running it at default 2-2-2-5 with a couple of other options set to 2 as well... More than I could do with the 2x256MB BH5 & certainly much more than I was able to get out of the VX... Gonna let it run some more with tigher timings overnight & then I'll try & crank it up some... Kinda happy atm as I've been stuck with no OC with my 3500+/DFI/VX4000(@2-3-3-8) for over 2-3 weeks...

Nice RAM but the OCZ warranty only covers those BH-5 up to 3.0V +/- 5% = 3.15 vdimm max.Kinda lame IMHO

.

I really wonder why OCZ did this since the VX is under warranty up to 3.5V +/- 5% = 3.675vdimm.

probably cause OCZ built VX to stand voltages from the PCB and all components.. and hand tested them all while OCZ PC3200 Gold BH-5 is untested and probably didn't use all the high quality components (that withstand high vdimm like VX)

so known ram + hand tested VX

vs

untested above 200mhz Gold PC3200

Well, I just got this ram today, I've only had a couple hours of playing with it and I'm hitting a wall, not becuase of the memory which I have going at 2-2-2-7 @ 252mhz 3.4v, but because my processor isn't going any higher, I have not burned in the ram yet, and I have not tried dropping the multiplier yet. Good ddr from what I have seen so far, once I get my 3700+ San Diego I'll put up some more numbers.

EVA2000...I am a fan! I just got back into the overclocking scene (I didn't have a lot of money during college) and with the multiple screen shots, it's easy to know a "ballpark" to expect with similar hardware.

I'm running
3500+ CAA2C <--soon to be upgraded to 3700+ San Diego
DFI UT NF4-Ultra-d
6600gt <----x800xt w/ ac4 on it's way to me in the mail
2 x 36gb raptor in raid 0
OCZ-Gold new bh-5 @ 252 3.4
Antec 550(?, it might be 520, I forget) 24 pin model

I've onlt taken these stick up to 3.0v so far on my DFI... Does 210 no probs...

Just whacked them in my MSI & trying it at 220MHz @ 3.0v as well but it seems to not like it as much...

With Memtest86+ 1.55 I'm getting these weird errors where it don't tell me where the error was found but just gives a blck red line with a number at the end...

Might have to crank up the volts a bit more as I'm getting errors at 220MHz...

Be back with more results...

Why do i always get rotten luck when i see everybody else who's tried these sticks get 250MHz+ when I get stcuk with such low, low OC's...

My OCZ 520w PowerStream should be here within the next few days... Then I'll crank up my DFI to see what this baby's potential is like...

... My missus is really cracking it cos I keep spending money on stuff that don't live up to my expectations or do not even run at specs... AARRGGHH!!! Early days though...

MSi neo2 + LL 2x512 do not clock well together

if you can hit 220-240mhz on a msi neo2 with bh-5 2x512 on a DFI Nf4 you will pass 250mhz easy as pie.

so don't give up yet

Umm, I'm running an Antec 550w with DDR Booster so I think I won't need any mods there mate...

Even at 3.4v I still get errors there mate... I do remember that I was getting errors with my OLD XMS3500 1GB kit at anything over 217MHz & it seems to carry on with this PC3200 GOLD...

Looks like I'll be getting some VX3200 for the MSI & seeing what i can manage with "just" a 20pin PSU for my DFI for maybe another week at the longest...

I think one of my sticks don't OC as well as the other stick as I'm getting errors at 460MB... Oh well I'll keep persisting with this p.os setup's of mine...

so far mine have memtested stable up to 255 with 3.5v Like Eva said having a ddds of 1 and a ds of 2 seems best for me. I can pass memtest with a ds of 8 but it won't load windows. Also so far on the DFI bios 414-3 is working pretty good. I still haven't tried -2 or -1 but 414 is working better than 310, 326, and 331 for me atleast.

So, would OCZ PC3200VX be a safer bet than the Gold? The price seems similar (currently VX is $197 + $5 s/h at New Egg for PC3200) and their warranty covers the extra voltage. Just curious ..

Update/edit: looks like OCZ will cover some extra voltage on the Gold's under it's EVP policy. It states that it will cover these Gold modules up to 3.0v +\- 5% .. which would allow 3.15v max (round to 3.2v and it sounds better).

IMHO, this is a really cool business practice (I've always like OCZ anyway. they were REALLY helpful to me a few year back with some of their PC2700 rev 3). At least OCZ knows people are going to want to push their memory when they buy high perf stuff. I wonder how they know exactly how much voltage you actually put through them though on a warranty claim? Such as if one was to put 3.4v and the RAM died, could they tell it was 3.4v and not 3.2? I can understand if they can find out for like 3.7v or higher though.

Gonna try another MSI K8N Neo2 (coming back from RMA) in case the one I have don't like DS RAM...

Don't know what's going on with the DFI... Having looked at the specs of the OCZ 520w PowerStream, I notice that the 12v rails are the same, only the 5v rail is better but the 3.3v rail is not as good as my 20pin 460w Enermax...

DAMMIT!!! Why do I always get dud OCers?? All my AMD64 CPU's have been $hitters & it seems that my mobo's, PSU, RAM are such poor OCers as well..

!!!

Everyone that has these 3200 GOLD has had very good OCer's except me...

Oh well, got the PowerStream 520w & AC VGA silencer 5 coming by the Monday & if my 3200 GOLD don't OC well I will relegate it to my K8N neo2 & get some 3200VX or try my luck on some VX4000 again...

Will add some serious volts (well I consider 3.5v serious) to see if they can fare any better...

Gotta look up some help with the timings... Maybe it might be my DFI board that is a p.o.s?? I doubt it as the K8N neo2 produces the same results...

Damn I hate spending big bucks just to run my rigs at stock....

Re: the MSI board. Try the other set of slots too. I had 2 MSI boards, 1 would crap out with BH-5 around 217 in either pair of slots, one let me run pretty decent in the far slots only, sucked in near pair.

The DFI should do much better for you, if 11x202 still sucks after the psu upgrade, try different bioses. I have had different multi issues with with the bios releases, but have found that with the duplicate dated releases, normally 1 of the 2 or three released on a given date will work fine. (ie, 2-17 sucked, 2-18 worked great. 414-2 sucked, 1 and 3 seem OK, etc) No ryhme or reason though, bioses that sucked for me fly for others and vice versa. You just gotta play until you find a good one for you.
