Sometimes unfortunately, for non geeks, geeks do have money. Most of woman seems to be able to smell money pretty good. Anyways, back to hearing from some of forum members on unbiased result on these set of stick. I am finding my mem controller really doesn't like much past 280mhz (283ish 2.5-3-3-7 now tops, however, max daily setup is 273mhz...) and if I can get this stuff clocking in around 270ish with good timing, that might be better for my benches. (yum 2-2-2- or even 3-2-2-...)

The OCZ VX Gold are listed at:

    Ramstore.ca

    and NCIX

I have found other site listing them but they are gouging on the price...

I was going to get the VX Gold but i decided to wait for the DFI socket 939 upgrade.

Cool thanks. These aren't available in 2x256 right? Curious how 2 256mb sticks would perform.

That's definitely 1T. There's no way 2T would allow you to break into the 7000MB/s zone. Nevertheless, it does seem low given the frequencies and 2-2-2 timings.

No. Lower multiplier on A64 reduces Sandra Bandwith percentage.
From my experience for A64 3500+ 11x Multi = usually 90-94% mem. bandwith depending on latency
10x Multi = 83-89% mem. bandwith depending on latncy
    Current result is 7679/270*32 = 0.89 (89% mem bandwith)
    That's pretty good man.

Interesting formula. Where did you derive the value of 32 from?

Why there is nobody with an Intel rig looking for this memory? It doesn't perform well with the P4?

A64 has 128bit memory interface( 64bit*2). Each 64 bit interface fetches 8bytes word per clock cycle. Total is 8*2words for 128bit memory interface. In dual chanel you have (8*2) *2 = 16*2 =32bytes words per clock cycle.
Bandwith = Memory frequency * Number of words per clock cycle.
    Example
    for DDR400, memory frequency = 200MHz(200,000,000/s)
Number of words for a dual channel = 32bytes
    Theoretical memory bandwith = 200,000,000/s*32 bytes = 6400MB/s

I believe it's designed for A64 systems. Intel platforms don't have that much luck getting where A64 systems are at all it seems.

No, That is about right for an A64. remember that you have to hit around 285-295 FSB to get the same numbers with a P4..

This is also with a fresh install of Win2k with no tweaks to system

I first saw that excaliberpc.com have the VX in stock more than 12 hours ago but was kinda busy the whole day. It was still in stock about half an hour ago but when I was about to place an order 5 minutes ago, the dreaded In Stock: No appeared!

I'm interested to see how everyone does with these when it comes to being prime stable. As we all know, with Winchester core 64s the mem controller has a big impact. You can be as memtest stable as you like, but when it comes to being prime stable, the mem controller has a fit and it all fails. I'm wondering if some RAM works better with these controllers than others, allowing a higher FSB. My ballistix for example won't do 220mhz, where it did 250 on an NF2 based system.

Anyone got any thoughts on that?

    Cheers

hey, sorry im a bit of a n00b here

so this ram does like 2-2-2-7 @ 260 @ 3.5volts, but you need the ocz booster to get 3.5volts, so with no extra cooling and under the guarantie, so if it stops working @ 3.5v i can just some more free??

    getting new upgrade christmas,
    hopefully..
    3500 winnie
    new dfi mobo 939
and prolly this ram 1 gig VX gold
    x850XT

damm, nice job ocz,, i was planning on getting the pc3700 EL plantinum but this ram blows just about anything away

hopefully they will be selling this ram just after christmas pretty cheap in UK

it basicaly needs to run 2.5-2-2 or 3-2-2 to hit any decent speeds on intel

Someone was showing benches of it recently

Ok, guys I finally got my neo2 up and ripping. it's week 40 taiwan. everything is looking good. I burned in el4200 plat. last night at 280 2.5-3-3-10 1t looping test5 all night long. seems to be my max for memcontroller on my 3200+ winnie. only 40 errors! now errors are completely gone after burning in. VX is on the truck. now it's time to play! Question to those using ddrbooster on this board. Do you set vdimm to auto in the bios and just adjust on the booster? or do you set to a specific vdimm in bios and then adjust on booster?
