Is it true that this mobo doesnt like the subzero conditions of a Mach II / Vapo etc?
Anyone found it to be ok?

is it the temperature?? Or the electronics don't like the chill-control??
well mine read +44 deg C idle with a R507 mach I
at first I thought that the contact was really really bad ... but the chip hit 3.2GHz so it wasnt the contact
this mobo just doesnt read below 40 deg C on the CPU ... bizzare.

Mine does, however it depends on the voltage, strangly the temps hardly change.
1.55v = 37C 1.75 = 43 i think the temp probe an't reading the temps correctly myself.

thats great news!! THANX!!
I dont mind dealing with a dodgy temp sensor, just so long as the motherboard actually works with the -.c temps!!
You've made me very happy!!

Reading the temps in bios are completely messed up with sub-0.
On the other hand, it has no affect on performance, the board works fine.
OPP
PLEASE HELP ME GUYS!!
I cannot make this board work with my Mach II GT
With the stock HSF on the system boots and works perfectly, with the Mach II on it simply doesnt want to play. Sometimes it gets to the Bios, sometimes it wont even get that far
Its almost as if the CPU or mobo dont like the cold?
Has nayone else got a Winchester and the Neo2 that is working with cold temps?
I dont suppose flashing the firmware on the Mach II will halp any?
Pulling my hair out now!!![]()

how about cpu shutdown temp... do you set it enable/disable? (if it available in bios... lol i dont even know its available)

CodeRed.....what did you do with your mach1? 2 power supplies?

OCZ 520 PSU
Work in progress here. I think official bios 1.3 might be the fix trying 1.36b real quick now. Bios 1.37 was definitely no go. Think baker block mod is in quick order as it is pain to keep removing stuff to go back and forth between air and phase...
UPDATE: 1.36 and 1.37 both craps out but 1.3 official boots up fine with evap temp below -48c... I was sweating to get away from condensation :P
Time to put it in rig and start testing now. Think I will just return the gigabyte I had in spare since this mobo do take my 3700eb fine from quick memtest, etc.

Jinuu> So your MSi Neo2, Winchester and Prommie all work fine?
you defo have the Winchester CPU? Have you flashed your Prommie's firmware with the latest Firmware 821?
Running 1.3 MSI bios?

Still in process. prommy firmware no idea... oc-rookie would know :POriginally Posted by Cashman
It sure is winchester, this is my 3rd one. first 2 i gave up since I couldn't get it up. Now I am back at it again. 1.3 MSI bios first than see if it boots up in ur case.
1.3 MSI bios.
Still trying few things out.
I think my OCZ 520W is crap. Need to RMA it, there are times the PSU just won't let the machine boot... not the case with 2 other PSUs I got here.
Well got it in case and still working... gonna work on getting os installed, etc now.
PS) Bah... found out 1.3 doesn't boot either unless I cmos reset. Trying few more things out before giving up on this board.

We need Oscar wu do freelance bios work for all the major mobo companies. That guy is just amazing! Let's hear it for WU!
What a crap load of stuff...
Both K8N Neo2 and Gigabyte K8NS Ultra has same problem with this CPU. I am starting to think this is cPU related issue or CPU to bios functionality.
Which ever it is... I think I am gonna just start looking for FX chips instead of going through this pain. I almost used whole roll of seal string just today.
Oh too add to it, even if your temp is extremely low, you can cmos reset and get into flash bios at least... (F1 to continue instead of saving anything on bios). Truely messed up stuff though.
There must be a way, don't give up!Originally Posted by jinu117

I am bailing out on this one. BTW, this chip on stock air cooling is pulling out 2.6ghz seemingly prime stable, 2.75ghz windows bootable with quick 30 mins of testing. Can't imagine what good coolings will do... (well, I can... but... I am **** blocked).
Might grab newcastle 939 3500+ somewhere or cheap Fx if I can spot one to kill in between...
so is this just a winchester issue? this would suck if the new amd chips would refuse to boot using phasechange!
thx perc,
I believe so... however, to be precise, I think it is problem with bios + winchester combo of reading temp method. I have a feeling winchester is feeding more info than bios can acknowledge. (bios reading totally way off temp). Even on newcastle, I was able to lock the system off and make it semi-unbootable by starting the temp really high and let the cooler run through. It keeps hitting down past 40c by doing this and will eventually go into 200c+ zone where it freezes. I have a feeling something in winchester is a little too smart on measuring temperature to adjust based on what it might see as average ambient...(or bios).
I am stopping for now on winchester until this issues gets over with... will hang with 3500+ 130nm for time being.
yeah man im glad you shared this info cause i have thought about buying a 2800/3000 winchester to play with and all i have is phasechange and it would suck not to be able to use them! i just got this FX-53 chip and i hope to god this wont be an issue!!
peace perc,
I have... he just said it worked. Maybe it works on phase change system which can hold evap temp above -30c...Originally Posted by µnrealneo²

My Mach II never gets to see those kind of temp after it boots up system... (Highest so far was -43-42c)
why can't you boot with phase change OFF at room temp let's say.... and up your clocks in windows. For example, boot at 11 x 200 @ 1.85v, then flip the "switch"...... get your temps down and then adjust clocks??

I was hoping to have some sub-zero results by niw, but my LN2 container won't be back from the machine shop 'til Monday....
