Hello to everyone
I thought I'd pop in here to see what was up. I was googling some old school sub ambient cooling stuff and low and behold I see XS is still up and running!!
I agree with what someone said above a few weeks ago....most hardcore OC forums are dying or dead. I lurk at OC.net but never post there...the trolls turn me off. HardOCP died as my news site. The only forum I really post on now is ROG as I tend to run that hardware. But its nearly dead there too. I find it odd that with so much advanced OC kit out there that forums are almost empty everywhere. Not sure where folks go to share or learn.
Anyways...it would be nice indeed if this site came around again. I have no online home. Although I am married with 4 kids (2 grown adults now), I still have a few hours to spend on the hobby now and then.

Hello mdzcpa,
I have a quick question for you. I notice that you have your 9900k clocked to 5.1 Ghz. What are you using to test for stability? In my particular case I use an eight to 12 hour run of Prime 95. I use non avx, as my primary use is for gaming, I use a ss phase, and have an avx offset. I then run a good eight hours of memtest for ram settings. I have heard various newer apps used for the later cpu's and would like your opinion given your 'old school' experience. For example, I have tried ROG RealBench and would pass four hour runs and then get slapped down within the first few minutes of Prime95. I suspect that many better oc's these kids are claiming are not as stable as they think. All comments are appreciated.
Happy to hear about new mods coming in and registration being opened....I've learned so much on these boards so great to see activity
ROG is good enough stable for most users, but old school wisdom to me is always 24 hours Prime95. And even then after 24hrs possibly bumping up one notch voltage if temps allow and you want almost no chance of failure. This is still my preferred method to make sure it can handle pretty much everything. But you're right, most systems people overclock on I would not consider stable at all.
And Happy New Year! Crazy to think I've been on XS for nearly half my life!
Just built a new PC, first time in years. 3950X, MSI MEG UNIFY, Samsung B-die, etc etc.
I do patch testing, Cyber baseline, STIG testing for the Navy so I have a pic of my current office with my current systems and servers. Wasn't there a thread 10+ years ago with office pictures?
I was also googling something and I ran across XS and remembered...Hey I used to be a member on their forum so I thought I'd drop in and say hello. Not sure how the forums are doing now, but I'm going to be hanging out and joining in the conversation from now on.
Best Regards,
Liquid Cool
While we are at it, I'd like to have a quick plug for our World Community Grid team. (link).
It's a project that harnesses your hardware for contributions to scientific computing, applications include Cancer Research, Climate Prediction, Bacteria Modeling...
We still have around 100 members on this board contributing regularly, and the team is still sitting at 5th in the world out of a few hundred thousands.
We have a special group here that's still keepin it going. Come join us if you haven't yet. For those of you who participated before, we would love to have you back.

Sorry I missed this question.
I also run Prime95 non avx to test stability. For me 2-3 hours does it. I also run memtest86+ from a bootable flash drive. At least a 4 hours of that. If that all checks out fine, I run my go to game test Apex Legends. If that can be played for an hour or 2, I don't look back, the system is stable.

Just stopping in to say hi.
It's been a while.
It's crazy that even the news section isn't getting much activity these days .
I hope everyone is doing well and all that, it's crazy times.
I got the Covid third week of January, was down for a week.
I have most all of the issues worked out, I have the registration code reset and tested to work proper. a real mental struggle to remember code from a decade or more ago.
I see a lof of familiar names online lately.

First thought; Are the 2D gurus from Japan still active on XS?
No clue when my ban expired, probably years and years ago...
