The intel chip at 3.2GHz is clocked down to 3GHz to give a comparison. By the looks of it, clock by clock, it beats the intel with a marginal percentage on Blender. That very same chip of intel has a retail price of 1000$

This is good news. If AMD is able to crank up the clocks and actually pushes out good chips for good prices, they are defenitly back into the game. They have a very solid basis now which will see refreshments and better versions of it.
