Still no piece of pie for me even with my new Dual Xeon E5-2687W![]()

A combination of linux and FAHV should end up giving you a rac of 25-30k ppd boinc but the variation in the points system can mean it takes a while. (mine see a variance somewhere between 8 and 80 points per hour per thread depending on the whim of the system). Expect 35% or so less on windows or on non Vina projects.

Until and unless FA@H sort out their cluster f**k of a points system he may yet need another

I don't think I'm going Linux soon...
Also, I'm utilizing only 30 cores for WCG. Other are dedicated to LHC-T4T and E@H.
I've got some more machines attached, so maybe it just needs a few days to warm up the queue
No way, I got that Dual Xeon as a gift
But maybe I'll ask for a Haswell-EP for testing![]()

Btw, those CPUs (150W TDP) run at ~82-83 C, which I think is quite high.. Cooling policy is set to auto.
What do you think ?
If you want to maximise then consider running either esxi with linux and windows on it or run linux with virtualbox and windows in that.
I hope to be testing these ideas soon on my daily rig.... waiting for a new drive to get started

Room temps?
I ran SB E5-2678W's OC'd to 3612MHz in a 75F room at a max of 65C
I ran IB E5-2687W V2's OC'd to 3871MHz in a 75F room at a max of 63C
82 or 83C to me is higher than I'd allow them to go..
Get bigger fans set to max in bios.
I used 92x38MM Vantec tornadoes on both those sets of cpu's for the temps I mentioned.
