Lots of results! Thanks!

I have problem with my Kaveri (or motherboard) as it doesn't like PCIe 3.0 cards at all and hangs very frequently. With R9 290 it also is impossible to increase base clock by even 1MHz. With Richland CPU everything works as it should so I suspect it is Kaveri at fault here

yes, its logical with dual sided memory chips at RAM. Its better for all CPUs, but for iGPU more

Hi there FlanK3r,

Yes it makes sense after reading the wiki article here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memory_rank. Do you know if there is an bios parameter to controll the delay for rank switches?

Not really related but also interesting infos about driver strengt settings. http://www.techarp.com/showFreeBOG.a...ng=0&bogno=403 and another one about the more ususal memory settings http://www.techpowerup.com/articles/overclocking/64

Funny, the vr circuit is marketed as 8+2. In that article they also mention that configuration but later they referet to the pwm controler spec here which is obviously ab 4+2 controller. So it's more like 4(x2)+2. Did not realize that the board uses an digital pwm. Last board with an digital pwm i owned was an dfi 790 am2+ board and the pwm section ran really hot there as well. Also it required abit more power idling.
However after reading this
On a circuit with four phases, the PWM signals will be delayed in such way that phases will be activated in sequence: first phase 1 is activated, then phase 2, then phase 3 and then phase 4. While one phase is turned on all others are turned off. In this case, each phase will be working 25% of the time.

The more phases you have, less time each phase will be turned on. As explained earlier, this makes each phase to dissipate less heat and each transistor to work less, which provides a higher life-span to this component.
it makes sense to use two mosfet's for each phase, should provide more power/stability for each phase than an 8x1 which would just reduce the the working time of an phase to 1/8 of the time.

@Lightman, tested the GTX-650 and it is PCIe3x16 and works without problems with an 105MHz BCLK. Firmware from Bios update via Internet worked as an charm.

Trying the v2.7 Bios here, but no 4.7GHz in reach, still hitting the same wall at 4.6GHz and still seeing high Radeon temps. The cTDP option has disappeard completely in this version.

Did abit more testing with the new bios. At 4.4GHz and 4.5GHz I require ~0.02-0.03V less for stability. At 4.6GHz however the radeon temps are still very high and cause the system to power off as soon as they reach 64C. In fact i need 1.55V now to pass the open porous linux benchmark sometimes, which required 1.5325V earlier and worked always. Thinking about deliddling noow, but might just leave it alone and stick with 4.4GHz at 1.3875V or 4.5 at 1.4625V now.

Been testing an somewhat save overclock over night. System had frozen a few times yesterday at 4.4GHz with CPUVID 1.3875V and 1.4V but i also had lowered NBVID down to 1.15V and MEM to 1.5V. So I used CPU 4.4GHz/1.425V/LLC80% NB 1.8GHz/1.2V/LLC80% MEM 2133MHz/1.55V and ran prime95 for ten hours. Had fans and pump running at the lowest speed. In idle CPU temps are at ~35C and Radeon temps report -1C (should be calibrated to be correct at 65C). During the test cpu reached 55C at max it was ~50C most of the time. Radeon temps maxed out at 51C.
Could not yet get the memory run at 2400MHz. When i tried to adjust the settings manual i found that tWR sould be set to 20 but the board only allows an max of 16. Looking at AIDA64's SPD readings 945MHz is the last setting that fit's within board specs in regards to tWR (fivth number in the second group of timings).

Thanks for doing it!

I will RMA my Kaveri and wait for replacement. What also was weird about this sample was it wouldn't boot up at all on vCore below 1.33V even underclocked to 2.5GHz

Hope you get an better replacement chip soon, that was bad luck at the wrong time. Did your board also choose an richland type of nb voltage in manual mode? Mine picked 1.275V but when i ran it at auto settings 1.1375V was used.
